I usually stay in Barnstable but we had friends staying in the area. So we all wanted to go out to a place nearby and we wanted to have some great fired seafood! I personally love the whole belly n chips! Everyone else had a "fra diavolo" special. And we just loved this cute cape restaurant!

I'd consider Lobster Rolls to be my favorite summertime food and I like to think believe that I'm pretty knowledgeable about them...and the ones at swan river are the best on cape by far. I get them to-go and they allays keep me coming back. Not too much mayo or celery but enough to still capture the fresh taste of... More

When researching our New England trip- having worked my way through Trip Adviser recommendations and the restaurant websites- one of the places we were really looking forward to visiting was the Swan River Seafood Restaurant. Sadly this was a bit of a letdown. The restaurant itself is huge and has got incredibly good views of Swan River-as it was pretty... More

Lovely, old Cape Cod look and feel to this restaurant. Waitress was very friendly despite the fact that she had about 40 people come in on a bus right behind us. Appetizers were great, (crabcakes) as was my lobster. However, my husband ordered seafood wellington and the sauce was absolutely definitely from a jar, which was disappointing. Especially since it... More

My wife (!) and I had our wedding reception here this past Saturday, and have nothing but great things to say about it! We had been here before for dinner and lunch and enjoyed ourselves, and LOVED the view, so we could think of no better place to receive our friends and family on our special day. Even so, our... I was appalled that my steamed lobster came with flavored oil instead of real drawn butter. The sides were bland and unimpressive. My "chowder" had to have cooked in a crockpot for hours as it was inedible.

After dining at Swan River this past week on two different excursions I came to the conclusion that this is a spot on Cape Cod you don't want to miss, our waitress was very friendly and also pretty entertaining she made my children feel very welcomed and also gave us a few good laughs. She recommended the lobster roll and... More

I've spent the last 17 years sampling seafood across the cape and my favorite spot to return to is Swan River. The views are breathtaking, especially when you go around sunset and are able to enjoy the beautiful colors reflecting off the water. More than that the food itself is top notch. I have never left dissapointed regardless of my... More

I'm afraid this place is grim. I don't often have bad meals so this seafood wellington came as a bit of a shock to the system. Seafood Welllington sounded an odd but possibly interesting choice. However it was in fact disgusting heavy mess of melted cream cheese mixed in with scallop, lobster, and shrimp. The wellington was surrounded with a... More

Ordered the fried seafood platter, and the lobster roll. Both were so big, that my husband and I (both big eaters), could not finish, and both were GREAT. Really close to the Lighthouse Inn, and truly, very good. Next time, we want to try to eat in the restaurant.
