Niceest place in Marblehead for dinning. Casual fare and nice crowd. Steve is a great bartender if you want to stay a little longer.
Our Inn recommended this restaurant and said to try the Lobster Pizza. I love Lobster and I love Pizza, but the two together sounded odd. Wow, it was amazing. My Aunt and I traveled together and we both thought it was creative and delicious. My husband has been trying to duplicate it, but no success yet! We'll have to go... More
Probably would have rated higher except service in the bar was subpar. Bartender was more concerned with college basketball. The hostess had to tell him to turn the tv down. Food was great however. I was traveling alone so I typically sit at the bar. I think I would have gotten better service in the dining room.
Having lived in Marblehead for seven years, Jack Tar is one of my two go to restaurants for great ambiance and delicious food. Vegetarians and meat lovers will find plenty of creative options on this menu. The owners and chefs have changed over the years, so a few of my favorite dishes have disappeared (bring back the pear and gorgonzola... More
Excellent food and service! Enjoyed the roasted cod, seafood risotto.
Highly recommend Jack Tar for dinner any night of the week. The food, service and atmosphere compliment its ideal location in Marblehead's historic Old Town. If visiting the area and looking for a peaceful spot in town you can't go wrong. Highly recommend the daily special, Jack Tar salad, seafood risotto, pizza and the refreshing seasonal brews on draft. Cheers!
I had a really nice meal in the Jack Tar restaurant. I have a dairy allergy and the waitress and chef were very accommodating. Can recommend the cod tacos.
We visited Jack Tar the first time in April, 2010. It's located in the basement behind the Muffin Shop in Old Town. Lots of locals hang out there and we enjoyed the conversation and the pizza. We missed the special price, but it's not offered on the shrimp scampi pizza anyway! Enjoyed the meal and the local ambiance.
Amateur hour in terms of service. The entrees were served before we had finished our appetizers. The hamburger was a meat patty from Sysco or some other restaurant supply company. Give it a miss.
Disregard any reviews prior to August 2008 when Jack-Tar changed ownership. Scott and Emily go all out to provide great food for a reasonable price in the warm, welcoming atsmosphere. Their brick oven pizzas are exceptional. The S'more's dessert is worth saving room for.
