This would be a perfect spot to open up a nice restaurant. Unfortunately The Blue Mingo Grill is not that restaurant. We were on vacation we were in a pretty relaxed mood, but not relaxed enough to wait 20 minutes for drinks and even longer for not great food. We can overlook a lot, but you can't have blah food... Fun to visit and quaint little bar but the menu on the blackboard (which never changes) is not great. Had the worst crabcakes of my life there last year. Mosquitos in the summer can be killer. Obviously catering to the summer baseball crowd, it is only open seasonally. Service inconsistent but they don't seem to be trained adequately.

We really enjoyed our experience at "the Mingo", as we call it. It's a small restaurant, but the staff is friendly and quick to help. The food is excellent. Unfortunately we don't go often as it's a bit pricey. It's a nice treat when we get to go though.

Each year we look forward to the Mingo opening for the season. The only thing better than sitting literally inches from the lake and eating a shrimp wrap would be sitting on our boat drinking a beer. We love lunch and have never been disappointed. Service is top notch and the food is quality as chef turns out some wonderful... More

right on glimmer glass lake, you are lucky if you catch a magical night with the moon rising from the opposite shore and the reflection on the lake. aggressive menu with many tried and true favorites mingo sandwich, lobster salad, sweet potato fries.

Every time we go to Cooperstown from the Washington DC area, we eat at The Blue Mingo. We have always found the food to be very good and the service to be efficient and friendly. It is a restaurant exposed to the outside so insects and rain can be a factor. But the extraordinary location and views more than make... More

We visited Cooperstown in late September and the B&B we stayed at recommended the Blue Mingo Grill for dinner. Our visit got off to shaky start, as a late afternoon thunderstorm had thrown a wrench into the reservations (guests who requested outdoor tables had to be moved inside). So, we had a 20 minute wait for our table. Then, it... More

We had NY strip steak at the Blue Mingo on Otsigo Lake in late September, 2012 and were pleased at the quality, preparation and courteous staff. The boathouse look and feel and dock-side location are a nice setting for a casual, yet excellent meal.

Stayed in Cooperstown to attend the Sharon Springs Harvest Fest, in 2011 I had dinner at the Blue Mingo and fell in love with the view, the food was pretty good but the waitress was not interested in us or our order and there was maybe one other couple that I could see in the place. The second time was... More

I like the Blue Mingo for both lunch and dinner. Its a little out of the way, a few miles up the west side of the lake, but worth the trip. You are dining just a few feet from the water with spectacular views of the mountains and Kingfisher Tower directly across the water. You can even drive your boat... More
