Had the fish cakes and beans. Not to my taste and I love fishcakes. Apparently smiles from the waitress is too much to ask.
We usually enjoy Earl's food but this time with friends from Ottawa we ordered the moose stew.Big mistake!! The moose was very tough with lots of grizzle and not very tasty.Very disappointing. We will think twice about visiting Earl's next time.I don't know if they changed cooks or not but the quality of food has dropped considerably & prices have gone... Expect to see locals. The prices, the value, the service was excellent. The food quality was fantastic - nothing frozen, everything fresh. Real Newfoundland food. Family owned restaurant. If you want to get a real Newfoundland experience, without expecting it, we were very surprised. Everything was really good. I tasted my husband's fish cakes not expecting to like it and... More
We had the breakfast which was very good (homemade bread for the toast was excellent). The toutons were excellent too. Live music (acoustic guitar) in the evening was also appreciated. The 5 of us who ate here during our trip never had a bad meal.
had the fish and chips...wonderful...but it was too much food for one person... service fast clean restaurant and well stocked store close to lodgings

The service was not very good either. The menu indicated that with the special that a roll was included. When I... More

Vegetables are, as in most of Newfoundland, few and far between, comprised mostly of coleslaw, iceberg lettuce and tomato on the burgers and overcooked... More
Didn't eat at the restaurant but visited for the ice cream bar and the homemade sweets next door....homemade bread, pies, cheesecake, you name it. Tasty!!Very busy little spot but the customer service was great and the kitchen behind the ice cream bar was spotless!! Highly recommend!
This is an unpretentious place for good fish and great fries. The service was friendly and efficient. Good selection of Quidi Vidi beer from St. John's. we heard lots of recommendations to eat at Earl's, we we not disappointed.
I wanted to give Earl's a better rating, it's such a quaint spot. The people are friendly and the ice cream shop/bakery is always busy and the prices are very reasonnable. For that part of it, definitely 5 stars, we would have gone over and over. But then we tried the restaurant and were not impressed. What we ordered wasn't... More
