A spot of retail therapy and it was difficult not to thrash the credit card, Although I did try and am going back with a couple of stocking fillers!!
My family and I for the last few years have spent time in Beadnell and have dined in most places around Beadnell and Seahouses we decided to try Bamburgh. We found Blacketts and it looked inviting and not pub food so a nice change. The staff were friendly and great with the kids too. My daughter had the tomato and... More
It's rare for me to give a poor review - mainly because we're normally very lucky with the places we eat out in. This was the worst meal we've experienced in 5 years of holidaying in the UK. I was curious to see the mixture of good and poor reviews and was hoping the former would win out but we... More
Having arrived late at our cottage in Belford, a few miles away, we headed to Bamburgh for a meal. Bamburgh looked quite busy and most of the restaurants were full but thankfully there was table available at Blacketts. The restaurant was full at this point which we took as a good sign for a Saturday night. Although I can't remember... More
Recently went to this restaurant a number of times whilst staying in a cottage near Bamburgh. We thought the menu was varied and interesting and the food when it arrived was excellently cooked and well presented. Specials were particularly nice and the bread and dipping oil on the table an added treat. Value for our money.
A little gem of a café, which serves into the evening. A good mix of items on the menu, along with some traditional Northumbrian dishes. Nice selection of wines and local bottled beers.
Having looked at the menu we had to give it a try - we reserved a table for 8pm. On arrival assume the owner was on duty and a young girl who took an age to bring a menu which I find so frustrating as its the whole point of going - is to select a meal. Peroni was far... More
We waited an hour and then the main arrived before the starter - no apology or eye contact from the waiter. The fishcake starter was reasonable while the cheese souffle was a little too close to scrambled egg in consistency. The mains were very disappointing. The lobster was overcooked and the seafood risotto (which had lots of cream in it)... More
Booked the following night following a meal at the Mizen head so unfortunate to have to compare like for like with such an excellent place. Tries to look a bit bistro but the plastic table clothes are a turn off for me - Ok at lunch time in a pub but not for an evening meal at a restaurant. The... More
A very enjoyable relaxing meal. I have coeliacs which did not cause any problems. The scallops were excellent as was the rib eye steak. Definitely be back next time we go to Bamburgh.
