Very good food, fish was excellent, hushpuppies like no other, fun place to eat. Nice little gift shop. A must go to when in Charleston.
My husband and I ate here for a late lunch. We took seats at the bar to avoid waiting, and service was understandably spotty. We enjoyed the Carolina Delight appetizer; the scallops were perfectly cooked. Then we shared the crispy flounder, and were quite disappointed. Nothing about it was remarkable. The fish was tasteless, and the chutney on the side... More
We came here on a visit with friends who live in Charleston. The food was what we expected: good Southern food and lots of fish. I was very happy with my shrimp and grits. The service was good and the prices were reasonable for sea food and the like.
Hyman's is the place to go for fresh seafood, especially the Crispy Flounder. This is a whole Flounder, scored and then deep fried to a golden, crispy treat. This is probably the best Flounder I have ever had. Every trip to Charleston is incomplete without a trip to Hyman's. The only downside is that you cannot make reservations and it... More
Had a late dinner there. Seating arrangements are a little odd, but not too bad. Had the jambalaya and it was very good. Lots of shrimp and andouille sausage. Portion size was large. Service was good and what was expected - this is not a fancy place, but the food was good. The creole mayo was very good on the... More
Yikes what a disappointment. We think they riding on their reputation and are now just a tourist trap. I have had better seafood in a diner. Flounder was overcooked and had a very off taste. Shrimp combo dinner was a total disappointment. With all the incredible seafood choices in this amazing town we are still slapping ourselves for the wasted... More
Have been looking forward to eating here for years since my husband is a Hyman. We were disappointed. Ordered hot crab dip & it wasnt even warm. Soft shell crabs werent hot either & to crunchy. I have braces & was afraid I was going to bend a wire. Dont get me wrong I can eat nuts & not bend... More
We heard about Hyman's Seafood and tried it on black Friday for lunch. At first we were afraid to see many people waiting outside, but we were told the waiting would be less than 15' and it was correct. Inside we were promptly given an appetizer and we tried a 5 pieces combo + bisque por my wife and myself... More
Hyman's has a huge variety of dishes to choose from. It's very easy to overindulge. We ordered the combos, to try a few different things. We were not impressed with any. The presentation left a lot to be desired and the wine we ordered was warm. The room was very noisy, too. We did not like the fact that they... More
One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had. Service was excellent. The staff was very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations. I had the flounder and it was cooked perfect and hubby had the shrimp, which he loved. It was our anniversary and they brought us a brownie covered in ice cream and chocolate. Omg awesome.... More
