Who would have thought of finding a great Thai restaurant in Charleston?... We were in Charleston for the Memorial Weekend and after eating out everything bad, decided to look for something different. A friend told us about Basil Thai and we reluctantly drove to King Street in Downtown Charleston.
The restaurant is located right where the good part of Charleston...

I am in love with Basil. The food is fantastic, and though it can be loud sometimes, it has a cool atmosphere. The service is great and they are always making sure you have everything you need. Basil is always my go-to place when I want good food. I recommend the garlic chicken.
I am not big on eating out, but since I know I am moving out of state soon I wanted to go back to Basil to get some of my favorites.... I think the best things on the menu are the larb (seasoning is amazing) and the coconut chicken soup. Also, I love their pad thai and basil duck. Basil...

Basil is a locals favorite. The food is phenomenal. My wife loves the masaman curry and the vegetarian spring rolls. The sweet and sour chicken is delicious an the serving is just right. You really can't get any better Thai in charleston for the price.
This restaurant is very centrally located, with a modern and beautiful interior. As in many Thai places, the menu is pretty large. Egg rolls (veggie) and a tofu and chicken entrée were all very good. We got there very early and actually were in right at 5PM. Service was lightning fast. Music is more modern than traditional. Overall, this was...

We both really love Thai food and will typically, if in a new town, will seek out a high rated Thai restaurant. While researching restaurants in Charleston I found Basil at 460 King St. listed with fairly good reviews.
Went for dinner and found a great parking spot right on King St. just steps from the restaurant. No meter fees...

We wanted to get away from the overpriced and touristy places downtown and asked a local for a good place. They recommended Thai.. and were we happy we followed up! The food is absolutely fresh and delicious. I had a chicken dish with the cellophane noodles and my girlfriend had the chicken "Basil" dish. Both were perfectly seasoned and cooked....

We loved this restaurant with its many options. The food was great and reasonably priced. We could suit my vegetarian husband and my choice of meat at one great place. They do not take reservations but at this time of year there was no wait time.
