We asked at the fish market where to eat and this was recommended. What a find. Passed it on to friends.
The door of this place is usually open, but rather than invite me, it makes me want to run the other way, Big Tuna has a loud bar and is very smoky. . .on top of that, one of my high school students - a tenth grader - said he was the head cook there!
I wish there were two categories for restaurants. One for food and one for service. This place would get slightly higher than 3 stars for food, and zero for waitress. First on the food. I ordered she crab soup and it was a 10. Nice chunks of crab, although a small portion size. My friend ordered a grouper sandwich and... More
Of course South Carolina hasn't received the note that FOX News is FAUX.....because it was on (thankfully mute) when we entered. That choice usually sets the tone for my dining experience, but I found in this case, the experience almost 'cancelled out' the poor choice of a TV channel. Ours was a party of seven---to include children-so the gorgeous parrot... More
The restaurant is behind the bar on the dock facing the water. The grits were good! The Grouper fish was also good, however I was charged $ 2.00 to have it grilled vs. having it deep fryed...Not sure why? The portions are not very large especially the the sides. The service was pretty good and of course becuase there is... More
Stopped for lunch on way from Charleston to Pawleys Island. Basic seafood offerings but super fresh and well prepped and presented. Many food options on Front St in the waterfront area but this one is worth a visit. Be sure to talk to Mrs Parrot......she'll respond
Local florist owner recommended lunch at Big Tuna, the whole flounder specifically. So, we had the She Crab Soup, whole flounder, black beans and rice, and coleslaw. Service was excellent, and the food was To Die For! Can't thank Jeanette enough for steering us there. Great little room in back overlooking the water. Can't wait to go back again.
We were in Georgetown today exploring after a meeting with a client. We asked her about restaurants in the area and she recommended Big Tuna. Not only that, she said to try the deep fried whole Flounder. We walked into the front of the restaurant (it has a back entrance on the water front as well) and were surprised at... More
We stopped in for lunch and I ordered the steak sandwich (thin shaved ribeye served on a hoagie with mushrooms, onions & melted provolone.....hold the mushrooms). It was so good and tender I didn't want the sandwich to end. Unfortunately, sitting outside, if I looked to my right I could see the pulp mill and a very dirty steel mill.... More
Love the oysters and shrimp but absolutely crave the whole fried flounder! Always ask for the biggest they have! So light and yummy then flip it over and enjoy the other side! Trying to get there tonight before they close! Fun atmosphere and nothing better than the outdoor tables when weather permits!
