The place for breakfast and lunch in Irvington. Great sandwiches, soups, ice cream, and even beer and wine. They've got water bowls on the patio for your four-legged friends, too.
Delightful little coffee shop/bakery/sandwich & soup spot in tiny, friendly little Irvington. Italian sodas, paninis, muffins, coffees in a friendly atmosphere.
When we entered The Local late one morning, the first thing we noticed was a large round table with a mix of men and women in active conversation. A few people would leave and a few would come in and replace them. It truly was where local people met.

A quaint coffee shop, however it was a bit overpriced for what you get (muffin and coffee) in such a small town.
Nice little sandwich shop priced fair. Food was good. It is located in the downtown area. The sandwiches were great.
Have had both at this cute little place in Irvington. They make great sandwiches and have homemade ice cream. We love to duck in here while on a bike ride for a muffin and some juice. The ice cream is great and features a variety of daily flavors.
ins pite of its name, this little daytime bistro caters not only to locals, but also to visitors staying at the nearby Tides Inn and Hope and Glory Inn. Great sandwich combos served on a variety of breads, including wraps and paninis, small but effective wine and beer selection and a nice selection of crafted coffees.
It was odd to find very unfriendly staff in the middle of one of the friendliest tourist towns in Virginia. The staff barely spoke, made no eye contact and couldn't get us out of the place fast enough. Next time I'll wait til I'm back in town to get my coffee. It wasn't worth it.
We always order the same thing when we are at the local in Irvington, VA: The Taylor panini and the Dirty potato chips and the Northern Neck sota. It has always been quite good for a local sandwich.
