Not Spanish anymore. Newer business that still needs to work out the kinks. Mixed drinks are a gamble...OK about half the time. Stick to the beer. Food average.
Casa de Luna had a interesting menu, albeit consistent execution could be shaky from time to time and the waitstaff seemed to change every month. Now it's called Pineapples and the menu is very pedestrian. Burgers, salads, pasta...stuff you could find anywhere. Great open air ambiance, though.
Love the location, and outdoor environment. Have tried three times in find something on the menu that is edible. I've failed. I hear they are getting a new chef. I eagerly await this upgrade because the restaurant is just so lovely to be in. Drink are good.
We have just moved to The Big Island so we are not familiar with places or streets and we were driving around looking for furniture stores, etc. and we happened to pass this restaurant by and we decided to turn around and give it a try. We loved the open air atmosphere and you choose where you sit. The location... More
Went to Casa de Luna today for lunch. The menu was nice, lots of choices. Tapas, tacos, enchiladas, and much more. Chips and salsa was the best I've had in a restaurant. Chips not too thick, salsa was full of flavor. I had the gazpacho which was excellent, my friend had the tortilla soup, it was served cold but she... More
We stumbled upon this place and had a great lunch. Fish and steak tacos, guacamole, taco salad were all fresh and wonderful.
Try either the fresh catch salad or fresh catch entree. The staff are very friendly and nice and the food is great. Another favorite here is the liliquoi margarita try one!
I can see that they have potential but they need a change! Both times I've been to the restaurant they didn't have items that I ordered. It took over half an hour just to get 2 appetizers and they weren't even busy. I felt a little neglected at times. The food was mediocre and I think they could benefit from... More
In my previous review I gave Casa de Luna a stellar review on it's tapas and couldn't wait to return. We were told they were switching to an all tapas menu but as of our last visit in September it hasn't happened. On our second visit we had the Punta de Solomillo (Beef Sirloin with Garlic and Red Wine Sauce)... More
We were in Hilo for a brief overnight stay, and really enjoyed our lunch at Casa de Luna. It was great to sit back and watch a rainstorm from the open air space. The wait staff was wonderful -- all very friendly, as was the manager, Jake. The food was great -- a Spanish/Mexican twist on some old favorites. The... More
