my only regret is i didn't have someone with me to split things with. the sandwiches are HUGE. easily enough for two people. and you'll want to eat every bit b/c the bread is so good and the cheese is amazing. but don't be an idiot like me and not leave room for desert. i watched everyone eating these amazing... If you are up for fantastic pastery and great food, this is the place to go. Great vibe, hipsters are the main audience. Grab your food and head for Dolores Park that is just around the corner. Don't miss the pain au chocolate and the crouque m. Recommend this place!

Even without a store sign in front, there's no mistaking the long line outside this bakery. We even stood in line a second time after sampling the bread pudding, lemon cream tart, macaroon and cappuccino. We loved everything, savoring every bite. I highly recommend to bakery lovers of all ages. I have been to many first rate bakeries including those... More

Tartine is well known in San Francisco. It's a bit hard to find if it's your first time as they don't put their name in the front of the store. There was a small line inside the store when we went on a Wednesday around 5pm. I immediately noticed the big variety of baked goods and savory items and the... More

Tartine Bakery offers overpriced and mediocre pastries and sandwiches that are surely not French- do not be misled by the name. The puff pastry was soggy, the éclair had a vanilla filling which is NEVER the case in French pastries, and the almond croissant is called Frangipane for the right reason because it did not have the flavor of pure... We went 3 times to this lovely bakery in The Mission. We had a great breakfast twice and a mega nice brunch. Try the breadpudding with fresh fruit or the lemontarts. Nice croissants, plenty of coffee, and nice customers to chat with. If you sit outside anything can happen :-p We had so much fun with people passing by...

This was our first stop for an afternoon snack in San Francisco. The place is unpretentious but with a lot of charm. Great bread and pastries. We had excellent roast beef sandwiches and generous salads. We had eclairs for dessert. Croissants were perfect too. The small dining area was full so we sat outside by the sidewalk and enjoyed people... More

A local friend told me that I HAD to try this place out during my visit. Luckily she told me where it is and yahoo maps helped me track it down. When I was there, it was unmarked - no signs or even a sign above the door. I went mid-afternoon and the line was only about 2 deep. Noticed... More

Scones, eclair, cookies, etc. all are delicious. Stop by when you are in SF. Long line but it moves pretty quick.
