Description: Around the corner from the Fine Arts Theater in downtown Asheville, Limones Restaurant provides an inspirational mix of Mexican and Californian cuisine along with inventive bar selections served by a warm, professional staff. Long before working and training under some of San Francisco’s most talented chefs, Hugo Ramirez was raised on the intense and varied flavors native to his hometown of Mexico City. In fact, he still calls on his mother for the secrets of traditional Mexican dishes, which he reinvents in innovative and surprising ways. At Limones, Hugo’s love of Mexican food is combined with his training in french-influenced California cuisine.

We loved the unique dishes on the standard menu. I don't remember Spanish names of the dishes, but my fajita-type meal came in a very hot lava bowl. My wife had an awesome dish baked and served in a clay pot. We had a wonderful time.

Limones pleased the palate of everyone in our large party - the margaritas were popular and the interesting (in a good way) entrees were perfectly seasoned according to the foodies in our crowd. I enjoyed the most tender short ribs ever with no annoying extra fat pieces. Don't order the shrimp quesadilla if you are expecting a small dish -... More

I'll preface this with I love hot spicy food. If you don't, this review might not apply to you. The chili rellino and the fish taco were prepare perfectly. The bread pudding with caramel was a great way to end the meal. The service was attentive. I really enjoy this restaurant.

They say this is mexican/california but that does not describe the high classed cuisine they serve. I have eaten there twice in a coule of weeks and of all the good places in Asheville this is one of the best. The sea bass and the filet were both excellent. Great mixed drink specials and wine list.

This place is a gem. Markets itself as a blend of Mexican and Californian cuisine. Absolutely true. The menu was contemporary and interesting. The flavors were incredible. The margaritas are excellent. While small and busy, we never felt rushed. Would recommend a reservation. Downtown has many restaurant chooses. This one should be high on our list.

My wife and I went here for dinner during our stay in Asheville. It gets pretty packed pretty quickly because it is a relatively small restaurant with few tables. The small atmosphere just enhances the charm of this place. We had the fried plaintains with guac dip to start, which was fantastic. I had the sea bass and my wife... More

What a fabulous dinner we had today at your remarkable restaurant! The hostess, Kaitlyn, was so very attentive and friendly, and our server, Joaquin, was exceptional! Recommendations were spot-on, every course was superbly prepared and presented (thanks so much to your chefs for their artistry, and). Three women on a "southern tour" had a memorable experience, and we will spread... More

We had dinner for the first time at Limones the other night on the advice of friends, and are so glad we did. Everything we had, from margaritas to ceviche to entrees, was fabulous. The menu mixes a lot of different and daring flavors, which we really enjoyed. The Coconut Margarita was wonderful. We will be back!

Got the pork chop with goat cheese mashed potatoes. Heavenly! And large enough to share. We also got the churros with hot chocolate for dessert. Next time I'll ask to skip the churros and just order the divine hot chocolate....practically s*x in a cup!

The food here was innovative and the atmosphere was very comfortable. We went with friends and were able to talk without having to yell. Great way to spend an evening with an extensive margarita list.
