We bought the vanilla with vanilla frosting and the vanilla with chocolate frosting. The chocolate frosting one was my favorite! The cupcakes were moist and delicious.
After taste testing far too many for my own good, I can confirm that the cupcakes are not what you go to Magnolia for. It's the banana pudding. It's rich, and you'll need to eat it straight away (head over to Bryant Park for an afternoon tea break) or whack it straight in the fridge and you'll probably need someone... More
There are many other cupcake shops in NYC that blow the frosting off of these dry-cakes. I don't know that I've ever had such dry cupcakes in my life. They certainly weren't fresh. Perhaps before they became famous and expanded they were good. But not now.
Went to the one in grand central and was a bit disappointed with the selection so eent gor a cheesecake which generally I would take or leave but oh my God it was magnificent. Cheesy and not overly sweet. On my return to nyc I will be back
I could hardly wait to try the Magnolia Bakery cupcakes but they were out of almost everything except the plain ones and they were just OK. I also went to DC Cupcakes in Washington DC and found their cupcakes to be good, but I liked Magnolia's better. Very light, fluffy and delicious. Didn't know that there are several locations, but we went to the one I believe was in West Village. Long line -- wonder if the bakery goods are so great or is it because... More
Went to the one in Grand Central station, really yummy cupcakes at reasonable prices and you MUST try the banana pudding, it tastes amazing. Didn't try the hot drinks but can only assume they would be great too
First off, there are better cupcakes and cupcake places in the world than this. I tried the location near Radio City Music Hall with some local NYC friends who insisted on going. Here is how it happens.... Magnolia.... 1. Has cupcakes that are assembled on site. For some reason, one of mine did not taste all that fresh. 2. Features... More
I love Magnolia bakery. All of the stores are good. This one is small and gets crowded, plus you have to find a place to sit if you want to eat in Grand Central (which is always difficult since the seats are often occupied with people who are sleeping or waiting for trains). Some people find the Magnolia icing too... More
