Surprise because we didn't expect to find such high quality food in a 'pub'. But, we discovered that the chef won the TV cooking series 'Chopped' so that would explain it. There's a good variety of dishes to choose from and our choices were delicious. Gourmet food in an Irish Pub? Sounds oxymoron-ish, but it's true! We'll be back for... More

It was very quiet on a Friday afternoon. The food choices were excellent - both Irish and, you know, food - and yummy all around. Very good value, too! And we met Chef - what a great guy - stopped to chat with us for a good 5 minutes and even posed for photos! Genuinely appreciative of our presence in... More

When you come to a place as good as this you have to test them on the basics...I ordered fish and chips and was very happy I did. The servings are American sized, the food, good old fashioned Irish/British. Finishing with a wicked creme brulée, I was truly full of some serious comfort food. When the étouffée and jambalaya get... More

We do plan to go back. We hung out at the bar on a Sunday afternoon. They were cooking crawfish outside which seemed to be a good deal. We opted to try the menu, the pork cheeks were fabulous and the truffled chicken and mushroom tart was my fav. We will definitely go back.

Spent a very pleasant evening here when in LA for Mardi Gras. We were staying just around the corner and were looking for a spot to have a meal and watch the parade coming down St Charles. This was perfect as we were able to come and go from our table to go outside to see the floats and return... More

Had some excellent fish and chips with a Smithwicks draft. Rather noisy and crowded, but it is an Irish pub after all. That said, I can really go a long time without Irish music

I had the lamb shank dinner and the lamb was falling off the bone and cooked to perfection. The stone grits were beyond heavenly and the waitress was patient and helpful.

We too enjoyed a destination wedding Rehersal Dinner at The Irish House last weekend. 100 or so of us, all from out of state and from all over the country, descended on New Orleans to help my neice get married. This restaurant, located right on St. Charles Street, thus easily accessible via the St. Charles Street streetcar ($1.25 per person... More

Yup. This was our family's first visit to New Orleans. We were getting a little tired of the cost/value relationship at the eateries closer to Bourbon Street. As this was almost directly across the street from our hotel, it seemed like it was worth a shot. And, we hoped their banner out front proclaiming Chef Murphy's "Chopped" victory was a... More

I recently took my elderly father for lunch at the Irish House on a Saturday in April 2013. We both had been there before on two or three other occasions. He walks with a cane and sometimes a walker. The hostess let us pick a table but unfortunately it was near a ceiling fan and my father gets cold easily.... More
