During our 10-day stay in downtown Kona, we managed to have breakfast at Island Lava Java 9 times. Yes, it's that good. Between the live music, the outdoor seating, and the food, it's definitely worth a visit... or two... or three. The absolute only complaint is that the service can be lacking at times. There doesn't seem to be a... More

The breakfast options are seriously the best! Luau Pork Omelette? Waipio Eggs? Mac Nut Pancakes with coconut syrup? Real Kona coffee? We could not make up our minds so we ordered something different to try out and were not disappointed. Aside from that, the ocean view is great and on any given days, you'll see a pod of dolphin's putting... More

We had breakfast here a number of times. The food is great and even though it was breakfast we had live entertainment and the view of the ocean was great!

Love this place, usually eat here at least 3 times when I visit. Great food, tasty, healthy and interesting. Location could not be better either. Truly paradise all around. Come early it gets busy but worth the wait.

I have to admit to being totally bemused by the positive reviews of this cafe. We had breakfast here one morning. We were ignored for quite some time before the server came over and was pretty lukewarm. I ordered a chai latte and it was out of a packet, not made with fresh tea (this is my drink of choice... Great innovative menu and service. This was our favorite place to stop in to have something to eat, watch people, the ocean and enjoy the nice Hawaiian breeze! Fish changes every day depending on what came in that morning!

A little pricey but very good food. Fast, friendly service. Great venue. Overlooks ocean. Check out the gigantic cinnamon rolls and other pasteries.

Very busy but didn't wait over 10 minutes for a table. First the view: beautiful day with the surf and surfers right in front of us across a narrow street. Then the food with generous portions and delicious. The only downer was the wait staff seemed awfully busy and really didn't pay much attention to us. I will eat there... More
