Our vegetarian grand daughter chose this restaurant for a family of 7 to eat after her High School graduation. The building is interesting, high wooden ceilings and brick interior wall. We entered from the car park and wonderful flourishing herb garden, we knew we were in for a treat. The "Thalis" East Indian small plates, take 45 minutes to prepare... More

At first impression, easy going atmosphere and staff. We ordered the 7 item thalis. The best was the beef shortrib if you like meat. I had the halibut which was good but the portion was small. The rest of the 6 side dishes were okay. I also had the papi delicious cocktail which was disappointing. I left feeling hungry for... More

We wanted a special restaurant for this evening and my husband happened upon Poppy. What great fortune. It was truly a dining masterpiece. We started with a home made gingerale and a cheese plate. SCRUMPTIOUS. My daughter, 9 years old) has never taken to Goat Cheese, until tonight. We then each had one of the 7 plate dinners. I had... More

My wife and I had the good fortune to dine at Poppy's, on Broadway, in Seattle on 5/11/13. The service was excellent, as was the food. The format is Thali, an Indian [ South Asian] concept that is like a tasting menu. You have a choice of 7 to 10 items served on a platter, on individual plates. There was... More

We found Poppy on the listing of Seattle Restaurant Week restaurants and decided to give it a try. We all ordered the 7 thalis dinner and loved all of the different options with each thali. All of the flavors went very well together, but my favorite was the black cod. It was a great variety of food with small portions... More

We found this one during Seattle Restaurant Week last year, and have returned since. The food is unique, but the flavors go well together, and although the dishes are small, you get lots of them. I would never have paired some of the things together that we tried here, but they all seem to work well. As with most other... More

The overall experience was neat and well executed but the food left much to be desired. Conceptually this place will get anyone excited but, if like myself you see past the presentation and focus on the prize you may find yourself somewhat disappointed.

At Poppy the main entree is a variety of small dishes (choice of 7 or 10), served all at once on a huge platter, for each guest. My favorite was the black cod with carrot wasabi sauce. My husband loved the lavender rubbed duck leg with tart cherries. I would deduct a small fraction of a point because it was... More

We ate here for the first time tonight. If was my daughters birthday and I'd been wanting to try out Poppy for awhile. We made our reservation today through Open Table and had to give credit card details. There was a warning that if we failed to cancel at least 4 hours in advance of our reservation there would be... After your opening drinks and appetizers, your meal will arrive on a tray, called a Thali, with seven or ten separate food items. A lot of food distributed into small, but just right sized, portions of wonderful tastes. Usually a fish, duck, beef or vegetarian option. I had the braised beef cheek and sauerkraut with pickled mustard seed. Beautifully delivered... More
