About
Wild Ginger has been a Seattle staple since 1989, offering authentic Southeast Asian cuisine, an award-winning wine list, and accommodating service in an upscale yet comfortable urban setting. The food at Wild Ginger spans the eastern Pacific Rim from China to Indonesia, and Malaysia to Vietnam. We pride ourselves on offering traditional dishes from these distinctive regions and insist on house-made ingredients. Chefs make fresh spicy chili sambals, delicate egg noodles and our pungent oyster sauce all from scratch. To achieve the sublime flavors of the East there is no substitute for the time-honored customs of these rich and ancient cultures. We also have beautiful private dining space available

Wild Ginger crushed it for our special dinner. We were seated promptly at a perfect table. Wait staff had good suggestions and tips for our orders. A nice card signed by some staff was at our table which was a very nice touch to start...our evening. Food was prompt, nice and hot, and most importantly delicious! It did get a bit loud briefly but once crowd for the show at music hall left it was very lovely.More

Everything was solid. Our server was very nice. The food was nicely seasoned and not too salty. Prices were reasonable for the portions.

First time at this Wild Ginger. We were attending a concert at Benaroya Hall across the street. Arrived without reservation to a really busy restaurant, the front of house greeted us warmly and got us a table after 10 minutes. Our server again really friendly...and helpful. A low lit cosy eating environment. We ordered wine and soda and entrees of Butter Chicken and Monks Curry (tofu). Really wanted to be positive but the term “style over substance” really springs to mind, we shared jasmine rice but the actual entrees for the price were really low on well Chicken and Tofu, lots of sauce mind. The sauce was tasty but we genuinely felt short changed. Definitely not a cheap experience, very friendly but just not a lot of actual food for the money. We will dine elsewhere pre concert in downtown next time. 3 stars for ambience and happy persona of staff.More

I've been dining at Wild Ginger since moving to Portland in the mid 90s (it was recommended by a former colleague) and it still remains a personal fave! I so loved the original location on Western but the reality is, they simply outgrew the space....We visited last week with another couple who enjoy it as much as we do. In fact, we took Amtrak up for the sole purpose of eating there! I reserved via Open Table and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server, Grace was lovely, as was the new hire who shadowed her. They were both helpful with menu recommendations. We began with a round of martinis and then a few appetizers. The Potstckers were amazing and the Seabass Lettuce Wraps packed a delicious punch of spice! My only reason for 4 stars is, the Fragrant Duck was dry, fatty and totally flavorless. Given that this is their signature dish which I've enjoyed during every visit, I was ready to cry, as my mouth had been watering... To Grace's credit, I didn't convey my disappointment. On the upside, we moved on with a bottle of wine and entrees. The Seven Flavor beef was enjoyable, as were the Butter Chicken, Pad Thai and of course the Sechewan Green Beans! We skipped desert and opted for a Spanish Coffee in the bar. All in all, I will never stop loving the Wild Ginger! As a side recommendation: we crashed at The Belltown Inn which is 3/4 of a mile down 3rd and it was cozy and economical.More

My wife an I were very excited to eat here based on all of the great reviews but were ultimately underwhelmed. The food was nothing special, it wasn't that it was "bad" it just didn't live up to the "hype". We were hoping that at...least one of the dishes we ordered would be something special, but even though we ordered several dishes nothing really stood out. The duck was dry and had no flavor, the string beans were on par with PF Changs, the mushrooms were good but not spectacular, etc. Then there was the simple basic restaurant stuff .... like offering black napkins instead of white (we were both wearing black pants), we wanted bottled (still) water but they were "out" (we ate at 6:00 pm btw) and my wife's tea had loose leaves which the pot didn't strain. These last few things are just notes and had no impact on my rating of the food.More

The Wild Ginger restaurant was highly recommended to us. We were very impressed with the design and atmosphere of the restaurant on our arrival. The service was first class and the food amazing. We saw that the meal sizes were large. We ordered the restaurant’s...classic dish Seven Flavor Steak dish accompanied by the Chinese Sausage & Shrimp Rice. Wow! We highly recommend this restaurant when in Seattle. Marvellous. Alex was our waiter and he made us feel very welcome with his professional service and personality. Try this one.More

A stylish setting. Creative pan Asian menu. We shared the tuna bruschetta bass with herbs and peanuts and Szechuan green beans. All were excellent. Appreciate the reasonably sized portions. The not so Asian chocolate mousse was a fine complement

This was a recommendation from a colleague for a special night in Seattle. It was made memorable by our personable, super-friendly and attentive waiter, who went beyond just recommending dishes, but actually bought half of a second appetizer so that we could order the spicy...one and our daughter could have something else (there were about three such above-and-beyond acts) over the course of the evening. We encountered a lot of choices for Thai in Seattle and we're glad we chose this one.More

Excellent service, excellent food, every item served elegantly. It was so nice to eat there. BUT beware this is on 3rd Ave and you have to watch the dead beat homeless in the street and hold on to your puruses. We had two very large...men with us and so no one bothered us. But if you are a single lady, do not go without someone BIG to walk you there.More

Food was really excellent. Seven flavor beef was recommended and so tasty. Hanoi tuna was seared perfectly and has awesome sweet green sauce. Sichuan green beans were slightly too salty but great. Our server Eddie made the meal awesome. Really great sense of humor, solid...recommendations, and always balancing attentive service with our privacy. Near perfect experience.More

Fit us in on a Friday night. Hostess was very polite! Food was very very good… GF/DF options were excellent! We ordered 2 starters & 2 mains for the 4 of us & we had some leftover. Price was reasonable.

Great food, great service, great cocktails, great wine list and the music wasn’t bad too. After 10 days on the road with “bar and grill” the only option this was a refreshing change. They also allowed us to take our time - we finished our...cocktails before the starters arrived and only ordered our mains once we had eaten our starters. As Europeans, we like to take our time over food and there was no rush at all. (For the Americans - I’m sure they go quicker if you want 🙂)More

The restaurant is in a nicely renovated space in an old and somewhat rundown part of the city. The food was excellent and relatively unique. The Pad Thai was special–different from many others we've had. The monk curry was also very good. They were quite...busy when we were there, so that probably contributed to their bringing egg rolls when we ordered spring rolls and bringing my rice well after the dish that it goes with, but these were very minor problems. The prices were a little on the high side relative to comparable restaurants.More
