This place has nothing to do with German Food. Walk in and see the 8ft deli display and it is filled with American cheese and lunch meat and desserts made in some factory in Colorado. Hope you are not looking forward to any type of German bread because it is not here. My order came with a regular sliced white... More

Best old fashion food in town. You will find freshly made biscuits , the most wonderfull pancakes and root beer for breakfast and many German dishes for lunch.

Fun location in downtown area. Old tin ceiling, great aromas when you enter. Not a huge menu, but the homemade root beer is great. Not the same corned beef as NYC, but not bad for Texas. Servers were a little too busy, but a good experience with typical deli attitude.

We loved every thing about Shilo's. Our waitress was excellent. She was accurately descriptive of the menu. We enjoyed the ruben, wiener-schnitzel, kraut dog and potato cakes. They were delicious! The root beer was amazing! Not disappointed!

Been coming to Schilo's for over 20 years. I've always enjoyed the iconic deli in the riverwalk district. But lately it's been losing it's groove. I went there this past week and found the rootbeer to still be excellent, but the food and service were sadly lacking. Don't expect the good portions of really tasty deli sandwiches of days gone... We stopped in about 2pm for lunch during the week. Our server was very lame, kept asking over and over the same questions, forgetting our order. The Root Beer is interesting, but I found it too sweet and have definitely had better. The included refill was warm out of a pitcher that had clearly been sitting for a long time.... More

We were in San Antonio during Fiesta. The city was crowded with people and we were looking for lunch after visiting the Alamo. We had almost decided we were going to have to settle for Subway when we noticed this place. The menu looked good, so we had lunch. The service was great despite being very busy. The food was... My husband and I traveled early April 2013 from Rochester, NY to Texas to visit family Easter week and the two of us made the trip to San Antonio to soak up some local sites and food. While we were obviously under the misconception that while in this glorious city we would be enjoying the Tex-Mex and Steakhouse type of... More
