"THE TWISTED CORK: PHASE 2
Often enough, my initial impression of a restaurant sits only a few degrees off its eventual score. This comes from prejudices locked firmly in place next to schoolyard taunting, girlfriend rejections, and aquaphobia brought on by watching Jaws when I was eight. I disli..."ke ice in my coke, bones in my beef, and my shellfish without eyes staring back. I’m unlikely to ever change these opinions.
I knew when I walked into Twisted Cork, I was going to enjoy it, and in the end, it proved an incredibly satisfying experience. However, before doing my official phase 2 review, I returned twice and found both experiences underwhelming. The Phyllo Bundle was passable and the Brome Lack Duck was borderline disappointing. But I couldn’t believe my initial impressions were that misplaced. Then I sat down for my official phase 2 review and a discovered…well…that I was right all along; Twisted Cork is an amazing restaurant. My preconceptions still hold.

"First a confession - I have no use at all for the mania for thin-crust pizza that seems to have engulfed the continent from the viral epicentre of Manhattan over the past 15 years. Arguments that such is the "real pizza" from Italy are wilfully ignorant of at least two facts: first that back in the ..."old country there is a massive regional diversity of pizza styles and second, that the post war mania for pizza did not originate in Italy but in North America. I grew up with the lucious full mouth feel of real crust in Montreal area pizzerias, such as the once beloved Circle Pizza near McGill. And at Daddy-os, it is still possible to get that and delicious toppings and sauces fresh baked. It's an odd setting, the south wing of a motel ("Canada's Best value Inn" ) on Central Avenue with a cramped-looking little dining area - I've never eaten "in" nor had anything but pizza. I have heard good things about the ribs, but can never get by the pizza to give these a try. There's a good range of c...

Achillion Greek Cuisine and Mykonos Taverna & Bistro
"Taste is a very strong trigger of recollections. I recently enjoyed a trip down memory lane while enjoying a meal at the Achillion Restaurant in Prince George. I am a lover of lamb but often find myself disappointed by either overcooked or under presented fare. Not here! The Paidakia (lamb chops) we..."re the best I've had since my mom's. Grilled to perfection with the requisite rice & greek potatoes, greek salad and mint jelly.. real mint jelly, not mint sauce, not mint reduction., not mint phoo-fer-raw.... mint j.e.l.l.y. I was in heaven not unlike the scene in “When Harry met Sally” The only unfortunate thing about the whole experience is that I didn't see (or hear) anyone else having a bliss moment at my table. Their food was superb don't gte me wrong but me, I was having a moment with mine. Don't miss this place.
