Can anyone confirm for me that the baggage allowance for chinese eastern airlines really is 2 checked in bags at 23kg meaning 46kg in total? Unsure as I've never had to haul 2 suitcases through an airport before and want to make sure as Id prefer to leave one home if its not so rather than have to leave one at the airport!

Thanks

It depends on class of travel.

It's pretty straightforward and clear:

In Economy, up to 2 bags maximum weight of each bag is 23 kg within the dimensions stipulated.

For flights from/to the USA and Canada, they apply the "piece concept". It means maximums are for EACH bag. Impossible for instance to have one with 30kg and one with 10kg (in economy).

@KSJ368

Are you travelling with China Eastern to USA or Europe? Only if you are going to the US/Canada, the "Piece Concept" of checked-in baggage is applicable. Otherwise, for all other destinations, you are only allowed 20kg of total weight for economy.

Hi, sorry to bump this old-ish message, but this really applies to me.

Can anyone confirm that they actually traveled with China Eastern with the 2 pieces of baggage weighing 23kg each (so 46kg total). My girlfriend is traveling from London to Nagoya (via Shanghai) on Thursday and everything I have found on the UK website seems to suggest it, but turning up at the airport and being told no could be very complicated as we live nowhere near.

Also, the link provided is for the Hong Kong website, which may be different to the UK one.

Thanks!

Hi

Matthew N - was your g/f able to check in 2 bags in Shangai ? I'm in a similar position and hopefully you'll be able to provide some help.

Thanks

I'd appreciate any confirmation on this too, I'm going from Germany to Japan through Shanghai and it would be awesome if I could take 2 bags weighing 23kg each
