The Greyhound web site says that you can just buy point to point tickets in advance instead of having the pass. They are selling more reserved seating tickets now and they don't want pass holders to find that there is no seat for them on any particular bus. IF you plan out your route you can probably still do it by taking advantage of the lower pricing for purchasing tickets in advance.

I've had a look at the advance ticket prices for the Greyhound- there's no way it offers as much flexibility as the Discovery Pass once did, simply because the prices of individual journeys soon add up and the hop-on-hop-off aspect is seriously curtailed. Still, it's possible- it'll just take A LOT more planning (boo!).

I have purchased a 60-day Discovery Pass in Germany before Greyhound stopped selling them. Now I am here in the US trying to get my tickets but except for New York City and Philadelphia no agency seems to know how to handle my voucher. I have already been forced to buy one ticket. Does anybody know where I can find Greyhound's policy of how they are planning to handle these old purchases? My travel agency in Germany is not really a help and far away anyway. My original plan was to travel from New York to San Francisco by bus with several stops on the way and having to buy all these tickets without even getting a refund for the Discovery Pass will really bust my budget.

I'd appreciate any kind of helpful answer.

I did a google search for Greyhound Discovery Pass and this information came up from Greyhound's website:

I’ve already purchased my Discovery Pass. How long after September 30 will it be valid for travel?

The Discovery Pass will be valid for use after September 30 according to the terms of the purchase and length of the pass. No new passes will be issued by Greyhound after that date.

What do I do if I’m at the terminal and the ticket agent doesn’t accept my Discovery Pass, even though it’s still valid?

All valid passes will be honored as they always have been, until their date of expiration. Any exceptions will be handled by Customer Service as with any other failure to provide customer service. Customer Service can be reached at 214-849-8966 for the US and 1-877-463-6446 for Canada.

Thanks a lot for the information. That is what I have been told by my agent. I am still operating with a voucher though and that seems to be the problem and that the agents don't have that information. Can you tell me where I can find that i nformation on the Greyhound website, please?

I've just come back from what was supposed to be the trip of a lifetime across America and it was ruined by their crap service. They have no idea what they are doing and they seemed to have wiped this pass from their memory oce discontinued.

Even if I had travelled without the pass, Greyhound would still have been the worst journey experienced!

I have just had the same experience yesterday. 3 stressful hours on the phone with multiple answers. My worst day in US so far. I'd SO appreciate what you have learned since your October post.
