Struggling to put together an itinerary

Hi,

My wife and I are heading to Ireland at the beginning of July. We are struggling to put together and itinerary. I was wondering if anyone on here would have any suggestions. We arrive in Dublin on Sunday morning and will stay there all day. We are planning on heading west to the Galway area early Monday morning. We have from Monday-Thursday evening to explore that area. We need to be in Pontoon, County Mayo on Thursday evening to meet some friends for the rest of our stay. We'd like to see the Cliffs of Moher, and possibly the Aran Islands but that isn't a "must" for us if there are better suggestions. If anyone has some ideas for an itinerary for us that would be GREATLY appreciated!

Cheers.

Jace

you will have plenty of time to do the Cliffs and Islands so. Cliffs drive is about an hour and a half depending on route and the Islands could use up a full day.

You can stay in Galway city the entire time. Galway city is easily a day. If you keep your schedule flexible choose the best days for the Burren (Cliffs) and the Aran Islands. Thursday you can make your way to Pontoon via the Connemara. You could consider staying near the Connemara on Wednesday night for more quality time in that area on Thursday.

Great suggestions! Thanks! Does this seem like a good itinerary or would it be too much?

Day 1: Dublin

Day 2: Drive to Galway Bay. Sightsee. Stay night in Galway bay or city.

Day 3: cliffs, the Burren, Aran Islands. Drive a bit north for lodging (maybe).

Day 4: Connemara, drive to Mayo in the evening.

Day 5-7: County Mayo for a wedding.

Galway Bay isnt an area of the city, you could stay in the City centre or Salthill which has the 'Prom' for walks and great views over the bay.

Day 3 has too much packed in for me, i would do the Burren and Cliffs on the same day but maybe keep the next day for the Islands and then drive through Connemara on your way to Mayo.

Yes, that is what I meant was Burren on one day and Aran Islands on another. Ideal would be to leave Aran Islands for Connemara with a stay on Wednesday night in the area. But you need a good day weather wise for the Aran Islands, so that is why I think you should keep your options somewhat flexible.

Although I haven't stayed in Salthill, I think it will be hard to top staying near the Galway city centre. There are handy hotels or very reasonable B&Bs to choose from.
