I found this B&B online. Usually I like to go by hotel reviews when booking but I couldnt find any reviews on this place. It said it opened in 2011 so I wonder if thats why there are no reviews. If anyone has any info on this property I would greatly appreciate it.

Looks like one of the new houses down on the Lower Sky and will have just opened as a B&B so no reviews have been written yet, This could also be why it hasn't developed its own web page.

Is that a fairly good location? They sent me an email with pictures and said they just moved their business from France to Ireland. They also said the only way I could book was through a booking contract that they would mail me. Is this odd? Seems like a big headache to go through for one night at a B&B

A booking contract that they'd mail you? Yeah, seems like some hassle, especially since there are a bunch of nice B&Bs on that same road. If there are other options, I'd take them. I just returned from a trip there and we had plenty of places to choose from (assuming they aren't all booked on your days already). Avoid the Abbeyglenn, though- huge price for a huge disappointment.

Heh! I live in Bootlegger's Cove in A-town. To the left of downtown in a little neighborhood near the Park Strip. Small world! You guys been up here fishing lately? PS- I asked a fisherman in the Aran Islands what kind of salmon they fish and it's just pinks (humpys) there. Pass that along to your wife. :)

Try Quay House down from the centre on the bay or out on the Sky try Ocean Villa depends if you are going to want a drink or three in town.

This thread has been so helpful, thank you...! I searched for the Clifden Bay Lodge here because their photos on bedandbreakfast.com don't actually include pictures of the house...but the landscape and the views are beautiful. I just got a response from them with an offer that seems a little low: 35 Euro/night. (Or am I wrong? Is that about right for a 7-day stay, shared bath?). They attached a photo of my room, but it was a blurry, close shot of a couple of beds. Perhaps they're gearing up as newly opened, or perhaps the place isn't too photogenic, if you know what I mean. Thank you, tony2phones--I'll check out the links above. Looking forward to my last-minute trip to Ireland.

I had the same experience with them. I chose niot to risk a bad experience. I booked the hillside lodge instead.

€35 B&B is about the going rate per person however for a 7 night stay I would negotiate for €30. Especially if the bathroom is not an ensuite, they wont be having to wash the bedding every day and unless you are a monster eater I doubt you will be tucking into a full Irish all week (even I stall after the fist 3 or 4 days). As I say this is a new establishment and I dont know anything about it apart from the location. To be honest if I had known you were looking for 7 days I would have recommended self catering at the Coastguard Station or a house we have used in Town for the sake of making your own breakfast it's probably the best option.
