“ Day trip from Auckland... Waiheke Island? ”

Hi there,

We are travelling to Auckland in a couple of weeks on business and have two days to do day trips. We thought it may be worthwhile hiring a car and seeing some of NZ. We love wineries, beaches, cafes, restaurants, shopping and sightseeing in general.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Can't reccommend anywhere else for a day trip, but I can say that Waiheke Island is a must. We spent a week there last April, and though it was a little cold for swimming at the time, there are great beaches. "Beaches, wineries, cafes and restaurants and sightseeing" probabily can't find a better place. Can't say much about the shopping though ;-)

Hi Melburnians,

Waiheke Island ticks the boxes you request to experience. Having just spent 10 days on my "island" in the Hauraki Gulf, in a nutshell superb! Oh, and enjoy our local olive oils and olive derivatives there too.

If you enjoy wines, the Waiheke island is the place to go. The island itself is beautiful . There is plently of wineries to visit and enjoy the fine wines of the island. One of my favorite is the Mudbrick winery. If you want to treat yourself to a nice dinner go here. There is also plenty of hiking, you can rent a bike or a scooter to explore the island. Enjoy !!
