We know Havelock well but had never before noticed this gem. It's on the main road but hidden away in a lovely garden setting. The units are spotless and the owners are hospitable. It's within easy walking access of restaurants and a bakery.
But then there's the cats. Dozens of them. I like cats but if there were fewer and the few were more controlled this garden could be a sanctuary for native birds and it really would be a paradise.

Hi Graeme, My apologise for having not write back to you previously, a couple of reviews appear to have slipped passed me in April last year. Thank you for taking the time to comment on the motel, very kind of you.
You'll be glad to hear that the "cat issue" has been sorted out although we have never had dozens! 14 at worst. I'm afraid that having a wooded hillside running along the side of the property means that just one irresponsible cat owner results in us having an ongoing problem but we do our best to neuter/spay and re-home as many as possible. I fully agree with you the bird life is an absolute pleasure and an aspect of the gardens I am keen to encourage.
Hopefully we will see you both again.
Kind regards
Karen

It is what it says - a motel in a garden. Although it's in the centre of Havelock (hardly an urban metropolis) and on the main road, the units are so far back from the road that there's no traffic noise. Many of the units on the sloping site face the garden (complete with ducks), but ours was in the newest block at the back. There is no view from this block, except of the gravel area where cars are parked and the sheltering trees alongside, and sadly, the sun (at least in early March) never reaches the rooms. But the unit itself was excellent - a great big living room and a great big bedroom with two double beds, and a huge bathroom with roll-in shower. Everything was clean and tidy, and I'm happy to recommend it. The owner, a fellow Brit (though he's really a kiwi these days) was friendly and helpful.

Hi UK peripatetic,

Thank you so much for your review and recognising that we are indeed "what we say"! Hopefully if your wondering walks (yes I looked up peripatetic) bring you to Havelock again I can ensure that you stay in a unit that overlooks the garden.
I am sure you must still be on the road so I hope that your NZ experience is all you hoped and that the sun keeps on shining for you.
Thank you for taking the time out to write your review.
Kind regards
Karen

We have stayed twice at this motel and we can't rate it highly enough. It has everything you need for a short or longer stay. The owners are so accommodating and helpful. The setting is wonderful in the middle of Havelock but off the road in it's own green oasis. Everything clean, tidy and comfortable. Short walk to all the amentities. A great find and we will definately return.

Very nicely situated with very nice grounds. Our room was nicely done and very clean. The location was quiet and proprietors helpful in every way. We could not get logged on to wifi from our room, but once I got logged on at the office I could use the wifi in our room. We were very pleased with this motel.

Hi Cathy,
Thank you so much for your kind comments. After a long season it is always lovely to hear that your efforts are appreciated and gratifying that people will take time out of their day to sit and write a positive review, many thanks from all the staff.
Hopefully if you make the long trek to NZ on another occasion we will be fortunate enough to see you both again.
Kind regards
Karen
