We have never been to a place so terrible. Easily the worst hotel of our 11 day beautiful Sri Lankan experience.
Below is the brief account:
The Rooms: Absolute mess, fully naked, in shambles, musty smell, mosquito laden, dirty linen, the curtains seemed to have not been washed for 20 years. No space for storage, no cabinets, Electric plug point not working for the hot water kettle, no in-room safe.
The washroom: No water pressure in shower, water sprayed like a sprinkler all around the shower tray. The spray direction was not adjustable. The sliding door of the shower tray came off while opening it and it was straight in my hand. The heavy glass door would have injured me fatally. Disgustingly cheap toileteries- 1 cent shampoo sachets were kept in the washroom: What an insult to a person who is paying 175 US $ for the room! There was no soap tray in the shower section, so I had a bath with the soap in my hand ! haha! The toilet paper holder was broken and they had to steal one from the next room to fix mines.
The restaurant: Huge uncomfortable wood chairs, no one could rest their back while eating. Back support cushions were not provided either. The aircon was not working, and was only blowing the fan. This place was tacky and felt like a furnace. Not much to say about food- it is best avoided. The dinner buffet had hardly any choice, was cold and tasteless. The desserts were sweet beyond taste. The breakfast buffet was strictly average was well. The Ala-Carte at lunch was exorbitantly priced and not worth it at all. Basically, all I can say is that we were luckly just to get away with mild upset stomach's.
The Service: Very poor hospitality and lack lustre service. The restaurant waiters did not care, the Chef standing at the soup counter refused to serve soup. He said "you take it", while he just stood there staring like a food-guard! The front office staff was rude, not helpful and it was the same guy I saw for 24 hours. Maybe his bad mood was due to lack of sleep! The maintenance guys and housekeeping staff tried to help us with sorting out the 100 problems in our room, but they were mostly either unsuccessful, or were stealing stuff from other rooms to make our room right.
In a gist, go to this place if you wanna spend 175 odd US$ for bad rooms, poor food, exceptionally horrible hospitality and a ruined night....
PS: We were so unhappy with the hotel that we hardly had any desire to even explore the beach anymore! We cut short the stay and headed straight to Colombo.
