The Lighthouse Bay resort is like a perfectly cut, multi faceted jewel. It is different and beautiful from every angle. We were an extended family of six, ages ranging from 7 to 82. None of us wanted to leave when it was time to head back home.
The beauty of the location leaves you speechless, miles and miles of powdery white and pink beaches. The resort is located on this secluded, little slice of heaven, with lulling sounds of the ocean, the turquoise waters that seems to change color at different times of the day. Each moment takes you more and more into this surreal, serene state of mind – into this Nirvana. For a short period of time you seem to forget the hectic and stressful life you have left behind.
The physical structure of the resort is beautifully and tastefully decorated, enough to give you every comfort you would need but not over the top. The suites are large and roomy, immaculately cleaned every single day, with plush comfortable beds, nice and fluffy bathrobes and slippers, all refreshed every day. You have a TV, a DVD player, a small fridge stocked with soft drinks and beer, a wonderful espresso maker, which we used every morning and evening – so easy to use and so delicious. You have a laptop in your room to use, can also request a cell phone, Ipad, if needed, wireless Internet if you have your own laptop; all free of charge. The kids did watch some TV and DVDs but otherwise I do not see the point of going to this wonderful place and then sitting in your room and watching television but it is there if you need it. There is also a pool, if you choose to give up the wonder waters of the Caribbean. All these comforts are available and within steps of the beach and dining area.
Chef Lennox creates the most wonderful meals – breakfast with freshly baked croissants, breads and home made jams - you can not miss the air light waffles served with rum syrup, wonderful choices of lunch meals and amazing dinners. All served with creative and beautiful presentation and palette titillating tastes. Wonderful lobsters, freshly caught snappers, amazing salads – made with ingredients from their own vegetable garden. Coming from New York City, we are always spoiled with availability of top restaurants but we did not have a single meal that did not exceed our expectations. The flexibility of the Chef to make things that were not necessarily on the menu was like having our own private chef. Dinner menus were all individualized with our names typed on each menu, which was such a nice touch. I commented to Terrence, one of the managers of the resort, about how wonderful the mini croissants were and wondered how they were made – well the next morning I had a 30 minute lesson with the Chef on making croissants – what a treat for me!!! Chef Lennox also created a wonderful Barbie cake for my 7-year-old niece. It looked so pretty and such attention to detail and tasted great too.
And finally a few comments about the service. When the helicopter landed, the general manager – Mo; and the manager –Terrence, greeted us with smiling faces - I remember one thing that Mo said - "This is your home." Those were not just words. Moments later we were on first name basis. Somehow everyone knew all of our names, all 6 of us and we do not have such easy names I might add. We were greeted every day with the welcoming faces of Mo and Terrance. Anne-Marie, Luenda and Kennwynne, served our meals with wonderful smiles. At midday when it got really hot on the beach, Anne-Marie or Luenda would appear with a tray of wonderful fruit sorbets, freshly made by Chef Lennox. All frozen drinks were made with fresh fruit and tasted absolutely wonderful. The consistent quality of the service was outstanding and each time, when I thought it could not get any better - it did. Terrance and Mo would appear magically whenever you needed something, as if they read your mind and anticipated your next request. They arranged several trips for us, all were wonderful – Frigate Sanctuary and the snorkeling trip with Foster were absolutely great. We also visited the town and attended their bi-weekly horse races, which was lots of fun. The school steel drum band was such a pleasure to see. I can write pages and pages of praises on the pampering that we received. The campfire dinner right on the beach; Mo, somehow finding fresh pomegranates for us to eat, because I mentioned that they were the national fruit of Armenia; Luenda, Anne-Marie and Imran accompanying us on our excursions; Terrence reading every expression on your face from a distance and getting you what you needed before you realized that you needed it, everyone always looking out for my 82 year old mom to make sure she was comfortable, it was specially sweet that they all called her mama. The whole crew - Mo, Terrence, Mitch, Chef Lennox, Anne-Marie, Luenda, Kenwynne, Cleo, Imran and others whose names I unfortunately do not have, were always there and ready to make our stay as memorable as possible. As Mo said upon our arrival - It did feel like home and we hated to leave but now we have a family we need to visit again soon at the Lighthouse Bay Resort.
