I do live in Bermuda so my feeling that I didn't need to leave the place is perhaps understandable. The water was amazing, really amazing. Take a few steps get a cocktail and hey, take it in the water with you. Just lie back, float or stand up and chat to your friends.
I booked in here for three days. Had a room with a great view and kept in good condition all day - housekeeping twice a day and I needed it with all the swimming I did.
Live entertainment overnight. It's probably the only hotel on-island that does that - and it's a different group or person every night.
Family run, there's a relaxed, comfortable, caring atmosphere.
Dinner in the lower floor restuarant was great and the service was good.
Service the main dining room however was extremely disappointing on my main night - my birthday. The waitress refused to ask the chef if onions or bell peppers were in the dish I choose. She insisted they were not - yet when the dish came there was a generous helping of onions right on top, and through out. I begged her to check and she came back declaring that she did not know but, yes - there were onions. I'm allergic to them. the meal and service declined steeply from there, with the new waiter trying everything to get us to skip dessert. was odd I admit, but that said, I'd go back tomorrow.
Signal strength for wifi and my cellphone were not good in the room and the cable TV channels pixelated out.

Room tip: If you can't walk far ask for a room close to the main building. Room 94 in Angel Fish was a winner for me!

The Pompano Beach Resort was wonderful. The room we chose had a beautiful view of the ocean and a good sized private deck. The hotel room itself was clean and modern, very comfortable. The beach area was quiet and private, and perfect for wading, floating and swimming because of its location on a sand bar. The food was delicious, and everyone working there was friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.

The Pompano Beach Club’s ambience reminds me of the public persona of Tom Hanks-friendly, likable, honest and all the while, competent. There is downhome unpretentiousness about the Pompano that makes guests feel comfortable with the place after being on the property just a few hours. Quite simply, staff goes out of their way to accommodate all of your requests. One veteran worker named Velda put it this way, “I love my job and I never forget that the guests of the Pompano are the people who make my paycheck possible.” Yet somehow the staff carries off this caring attitude without being obsequious or saccharine in their demeanor.
I suspect at least part of this reason for this “Tom Hanks” environment results from the fact that the owners, Tom and Larry (and the managers, Tim and Archer) are on site and working alongside their staff doing whatever it takes to ensure that the Pompano’s guests are enjoying their stay. Other Trip Advisor reviewers have offered positive (and accurate) comments about the rooms, the beach, the meal plan, the nightly entertainment, and even the workout room. So, I will just sum up the Pompano Beach Club this way: My wife and I stayed there for 11 days in July and August and had a wonderful time. It was a great place to relax and put your problems on hold. We have fond memories about the Pompano, and yes, we will be back.

Room tip: Try to get a room close to the lobby for a shorter walk to the pool, dining room, and beach.

We have been to Bermuda eight times over the past twenty years and have stayed at a variety of hotels, ranging from Pink Beach Club (RIP, though it is supposedly being rebuilt) to the Southampton Princess (a/k/a Fairmount Southampton). We were introduced to this property during our last visit and decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did!

This property has everything you might want -- a beautiful (though tiny) beach (with bar service), swimming pool, two restaurants, a spa, fitness center, game room for the kids, nightly entertainment, scooter rentals, and more.

The beach features a lovely walk-out to two swimming platforms -- one very close by; the other is 330 yards out, but, because of the reef, the waves are modest and it's shallow enough that a tall person can walk all the way out.

The staff, starting with the owners (two brothers who are on property every day and work hard) on down are all super friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurants is very good (the meal plan is a very good deal). The rooms are spacious, clean and quiet -- all with views of the ocean. Set off of Middle Road, the staff will pick you up and drop you off at the road or the ferry (five minutes away) that will take you to Hamilton.

Back in the day, many hotels had nightly entertainment. Now, it seems as if precious few do. But, Pompano does -- all very good, local entertainers who know how to work the room. Great, adult-oriented music -- piano, steel drums and the like.

Unlike other, larger properties, this place has only 75 rooms so you never feel like you're at a convention hotel. But, with all the amenities, you really lack for nothing.

I would highly recommend this property. My family and I will definitely be staying there on our next visit to Bermuda.

Room tip: Ask for a room near the lobby...you will do a fair share of walking/climbing as this property is set on a hill.

My family and I love the Pompano. Phenomenal location, great beach and unmatched customer service. The meal plan is well worth it; great food and spectacular views. Close to Sommerset Water Sports, which has jet skis and boats to rent, and the people from Pompano will take you there. We absolutely will go back.
