We have just returned from ten days at the Rostrevor. We had a fantastic holiday and were generally very pleased with the hotel.
However, please be warned that we were not informed in advance of the building work on site every day. This started before 08:30 am every week day and this woke us up. They are extending the hotel and car park and so the machinery and shifting of rubble made a very rude awakening every morning, especially after a late night in the lively bars and clubs! If you don't like loud music until the early hours of the morning, then this is not the ideal hotel for you.
Saying this, the rooms had the most fantastic sea view, which was truly stunning to look out at each day. This hotel was a perfect location, as it is right in the centre of St Lawrence Gap, which is full of bars, restaurants, clubs, shops/souvenir stalls. The people are very friendly and people always greet you with a smile and wish you a good morning.
The rooms were cleaned every day and the towels were changed daily too. We were supplied with 2 flannels/face cloths each day along with our towels, which was great. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom and 2 soaps were also supplied, but no shower gel and no shower cap! The shower head is not adjustable, so if you are a shorter person, who doesn't want to wash your hair every single day, then take your own shower cap! The daily cleaning was good, however the rooms were not completely immaculate, but of a general good cleaning standard. There was also an iron and an ironing board in the room, which was a real bonus too!
The room was self-catering and so had it's own fridge, kettle and all other facilities, which was really handy to keep our drinks cold or make a cup of tea each morning. There is a local convenience store 2 minutes down the road to purchase food and drink. There is a bar and restaurant on site called The Almond Tree and it serves food and drink all day until 6pm and on a couple of nights per week they have a BBQ/buffet too. Verna, who works in the bar was really fantastic and was always smiling, laughing and willing to offer any useful information she could. She was a real gem!
There is aqua aerobics a couple of times a week during the day, in the swimming pool. The pool looks out directly on to the sea and the hotel also has its own private beach. The beach is too small for sunbeds, but there are always plenty of sunbeds around the pool area.
The reception staff were helpful and friendly and there are plenty of maps, booklets and tourist information in the reception to help you on your way. Natalie in reception was really lovely and always greeted us with a smile! The hotel is close to the bus stops for a range of different busses, blue, yellow and white, which run very often and only cost 2 Barbados dollars to any destination.
Be warned, do not wear camoflague, like my husband did, as it is illegal! He was harrassed and saluted at constantly, until he changed his shorts!
Fresh fish at Oistins on a Friday night is a must, but be ready to dance until early hours of the morning for a most fantastic atmosphere ever!
You will guarantee to return home relaxed and totally chilled out! Enjoy!
