The hotel is beautiful. Sure it is a drive from town, but we didn't find it to be that big of an issue. We were in room 1445 which was quite a hike from the lobby but we enjoyed the exercise. The beach was fine for us as many of the beaches on the island are coral covered. The Hyatt's was nice and clean! Sure it wasn't a snorkeling beach, but you could easily walk out to other areas to snorkel. My husband swam across the bay to snorkel but said it wasn't worth his time.
Since we are Diamond Members we had two free breakfasts. The service is just slow. They often forgot if you asked for a cup of coffee or a soda. We had a huge communication issue our first breakfast and were charged for 6 people when we should have only been charged for 2. I had to clear it up at the front desk.
It was nice to be served at the pool if you chose. The pool bar had average food and service was the same.
Our daughter got lost after playing a game of coconut bowling on the beach. I thought she ran ahead of me to the room which in fact she hadn't. We panicked and searched for her. The staff that was running the game had taken her in his arms, gotten her a slushy and was carrying her around trying to find us. SO very sweet!! Thank you!
We loved the sushi in the lobby. Shor was good but overpriced. Nothing about the meal justified a $28 plate of snapper. Service was fine.
We ventured out of the hotel daily. We visited many beaches, swam with the dolphins, went ATV'ing. and ate out. It was so much fun! If you have a car, drive up to the north end of the island and eat at Sol Foods!
I do want to mention that we were dissapointed that there was no regency club/lounge. We've visited many Hyatts and always love that amenity. It is one of the reasons my husband is a diamond member. However, the only things we were offered was one free wifi and two breakfasts daily. We celebrated our anniversary and they noted it but it was never acknowledged. Heck, we stayed at the Aruba Hyatt on our anniversary and they treated us so well! Chocolate covered fruit, wine and mimosas! In Curacao you are just another guest.
