over all it was nice .the food not so great.it was hot and sunny.every body was friendly .meet some great people rumor has it the resort has a new owner so the kinks may get worked out.

I would like to begin by saying that as we were leaving, we refused to pay the late fee for checking out and the security guard PULLED OUT A GUN AND POINTED IT AT MY COUSIN, ON THE BUS! This is by far the worst resort that I have ever been to. I have been to the Domincan Republic on 4 separate occasions and cAn say that by far, this was the worst place ever. The employees were rude and the food was garbage. There was nothing to do at night and the power went out for numerous hours. My room didn't have a proper working telephone and the "third bed" in our "suite" that was promised to us was a mattress on the floor. There wasn't always food available, when there should have been, not even a snack bar! They didn't provide all you can drink, they only stocked 10 beers in the poolbar and the only other option was rum. That's not even all of it, my friends will come on and deliver the rest of the terrible news.

Anthony, my boyfriend, Gabriella, his daughter , and I had the most wonderful time at Colony Bay Resort. We were there from February 24 to March 2, 2009 . The beautiful private beach along with the huge pool were spactacular. We really needed this vacation after the horrible winter in Chicago. I have been all over the world at many resorts including Mexico, and this place is my favorite. it is nice and peaceful. I don't like resorts filled with springbreakers! I loved the staff. They treated us as if we were family . Our guide, Isiah ,became our brother. He took us on an adventureous safari to meet the locals. We also got to see where they filmed the Blue Lagoon. I would highly recommend a side tour. I loved this place so much, I am bringing a group of 10 people next year from Blue Cross and Blue shield , where I work. Oh, I almost forgot. The buffet was great. There was always a great selection to choose from. Their wait staff was always attentive. I can't wait to go back next year. I have been telling all my friends about Colony Bay Resort. I would highly recommend this resort.

Colony Bay is located 50 minutes away from pretty much EVERYTHING. If you are looking to walk into town and check out the sites ... this is not the place to go.
I agree with most of the reviews on here that the buffets are the same, no variety (unless you count the "Meat of Beef" and then it was a gamble what that was)
The hotel was not booked up, I would say about 30 rooms, but you ... I LIKED that! It was quiet and relaxing, and because of that the staff was always attentive and fun! Most of the guests on our stay were also Canadian, which made it even more fun! we became friends with pretty much everyone there and went and did excursions together.
We didn't experience power outages, water shortages or anything else I have read here. Oh wait ... we did have one beer shortage at about 2 am but hey, we are Canadians after all!
The staff was so accomidating on our stay that they left the internet on our computer on for an extra 2 hours, just so we could watch our lacross game.
In our experience, this is a 2.5 star resort with a 5 star staff. Except for Johnson!! watch out for him, he hangs out buy the pool and tries to sell his own excursions. Don't do it, book it with the Sunquest rep. At least then you know you are going.
I check no on recommending to a friend only because of its distance to activities.
