We have travelled to Blue Mt. peak over 10 times. In the "old days" (1970's) have driven a Morris Minor pick-up, a Ford Ranger pick-up and a Volkswagen all the way to Whitfied Hall. Even drove the Ranger over the metal footbridge between Maavis Bank and Hagley Gap. You would not even contemplate such vehicles for use on the Hagely Gap - Whitfield Hall Road, it is strickly 4-wheel drive, Land Rover stuff (My 1988 Landrover 110 makes it all the way very nicely).
The mountains are spectacular. Serenity abounds adjacent to Whitfield. Bring what you need, because the are supplies of coffee only...nothing else is available.
The hike to the peak is nothing more than a very laborious walk, not really mountain climbing. Done day or night it is the same thing..."the peak is just around the next corner, or over the next rise". If you catch a sunrise on thepeak, your absolutely lucky. We've been to the top 8 times and have seen one sunrise.
This is surely not your "Sandals" vacation. I will be difficult for 'all-inclusive' tourist to make the peak, especially with only one week of vavcation. This may be the point: Take more than a week In Jamaica and stay somewher other than the beach.
