We visited Divi over Thanksgiving Week with my husband, two teen girls, and my parents. We went as guests of another family, which allowed us to get a FANTASTIC deal on the studio rooms that we stayed in. Divi put us up at the top of the resort, by the negative edge pool (my friend requested this location).
We stayed in a Studio. It was large, but the 4 of us quickly filled it! The bathrooms are HUGE and I recommend storing your luggage in there to free up space in the rest of the room. Our second floor room had a view over a water feature that flowed into the pool-this was beautiful, but noisy. At times it was nice, as it blocked out resort sound, but at other times it seemed really loud. Our 3 rooms were all next to each other, which was great and allowed us to see a 1 bedroom. They are MASSIVE and offer privacy for parents along with space for kids (of for 2 couples, etc). The bed was very comfortable, but the pull out couch is not. Our rooms were clean, but we did see tiny tiny tiny ants occasionally by the sliders - it's an island so this is to be expected. My mom's room did have a mildew smell, but not enough that she wanted to move. We enjoyed having the kitchens, as it allowed us to make our own breakfasts and lunches. We did cook dinner 1 night, but typically went out for dinner.
Nice layout. There are stairs and a hill but I recommend climbing it to go visit the fort. The view up there is spectacular! We spent the day on the beach, which is well maintained, clean, and has a lovely view. Also, you are rarely approached to purchase things so it was relaxing and comfortable. Gizmo's bar is right on the beach, and we did have drinks and snacks from there. Typical beach bar food, but go and check out Gizmo the parrot-it's her bar! You can bring your own drinks onto the beach. For sunset, we would go up to the negative edge pool that is hidden at the top of the resort. This is the nicest pool on the property, but out of the way (great for privacy, not so great if your room is far away). There are 2 or 3 other pools, but I didn't spend any time at them.
I found all of the staff to be great. They move at a slower pace, but that is Island Time! Relax and get into their groove, and you will be just fine. We did have one day where there was no water in the entire resort (it's an Island, it can happen). The staff was great-they kept us informed and the manager gave every guest room a $50.00 credit for the inconvenience.
We had a rental car and did go out into St. Maartin. The traffic heading over to the French Side was AWFUL which was a shame. Hopefully they will clear it up soon - watch the blogs here. They were so helpful to us to know what to expect. It is a LOVELY island.
Recommend Divi, it's a comfortable well run place. Be realistic about your expectations - it's not 5 star, but it is lovely and elegant. Go off site for dinner, the food it too good on the Island to miss it!
