On the main street, so quite noisy, and no double glazed windows to keep the noise out. No nice views from the hotel, even though the hotel is in the Cameron Highlands area. Staff are not entirely helpful in providing guidance on what one can do in the area on their own. My wife and I used a tour that was very expensive, and didn't provide any value. Some staff not providing efficient service, and didn't want to exert the effort to help. The breakfast was minimal, and to order hot food takes forever.

Room tip: This hotel is in an area that has amazing views but the main view the hotel has is on a highway, which obviously is not the location we were looking for when going on a relaxing holiday in the mountains. Tours extremely expensive compared to what you can get on your own.

After a long drive from KL it was a relief to arrive at Cameron HIghlands resort and to receive such a lovely welcome - cool flannels and refreshing tea! Our room was lovely - huge four poster bed - comfy sofa and cute little balcony overlooking the golf course. I can imagine that during the weekends and holiday period the road could be busy and therefore noisy - but luckily we visited during the week in May and were not troubled by noise or traffic at all.
The spa village at the resort is definitely worth a visit - it is probably the best spa experience I have ever had - absolute bliss!! All the treatments start with a signature tea bath of your choice - my husband and I had a 'couples' spa - so we each had a different type of bath (in the same room) - my husband was very nervous, but he loved every minute of it. We both had massages and wraps after our bath - which were the most relaxing we have ever had - heaven!!
Breakfasts were simple, but delicious and service was superb. We went on a guided walk organised by the resort which was really enjoyable and interesting and the staff were waiting for us back at the resort - again with cold flannels and tea and slippers! They took our walking boots and these were cleaned for us and returned to our room later that day - what service - my boots have never been so clean! The hotel booked a local taxi driver for us for the afternoon and he took us to a tea plantation, strawberry farm, bee farm and butterfly farm - he drove us around in his 1975 Mercedes! He was such a character and made our afternoon so interesting - the tea plantation is well worth a visit - beautiful and so fascinating to see what goes into making our cup of tea! I would probably miss the strawberry and bee farm, but the butterfly farm was fascinating - costing the equivalent of £1.00 to get in - not particularly large, but with a wonderful variety of butterflies and snakes, spiders and other weird and wonderful creatures!!
We had 2 nights at CHR and ate in the Japanese restaurant - Gonbei - on one night which was a fantastic meal with superb food and excellent service and in the main dining room on the 2nd night - which was also very good. We also had the afternoon tea which was just wonderful.
We had a wonderfully relaxing stay at Cameron HIghlands and could not imagine a better place to stay.

I am so glad we booked into this hotel! I had considered going for a more budget B&B, as I thought we would mainly be out and about, exploring the sights. Something made me change my mind, and we decided to go for a more luxurious break (it was my birthday after all!) We drove up from Ipoh after hiring a car at the airport (pre-booked). By the time we reached the hotel we had driven through a number of small towns that were hardly what you could call scenic. (Pretty ugly actually). Thinking we'd made a huge mistake coming to the highlands, it was a relief to pull into the hotel and be welcomed inside.

This place is the real deal - gracious old fashioned interiors, superb service, large comfy rooms. A santuary from the increasingly ugly world of the Cameron Highlands. Meals are expensive, but the Golf Club, across the road, serves simple meals on its verandah, for a reasonable price. We also went into Tanah Rata for dinner one evening, which was also inexpensive. However, given there is nothing to keep you in this unattractive town, we returned to enjoy the beautiful lounge area of the hotel.

I recommend you plan to spend a lazy afternoon just reading books, drinking tea and absorbing the atmosphere of the hotel. It is an attraction in itself.

Room tip: All rooms face the road, which experiences constant traffic. Bring earplugs if you need silence to sleep.

A very warm welcome by the staff at the entrance , with grateful smiles inviting us to visit the resort.

An overall very nice & high end interior design and the refurbishment of this old structured building, equipped with those beautiful water features keep the environment so relaxing until you don't feel you want to move forward to another place.

Location of this hotel is good. Facing the golf course and minutes away from Tanah Rata and Brinchang.

Reached the hotel at 2pm. However, we were informed that the room was not yet ready till at least 3.30pm. We were given a complimentary tea, sandwiches and scones, which was kind of a pleasant surprise. Service was within expectations of a high end boutique hotel, very personal and warm, without being to over-bearing.

The room itself was decently sized, with high ceilings, hard wood flooring. English country-like with a bit of an old colonial charm. All rooms, which has a nice balcony, overlook the golf course but there's a drawback to it. The room also faces the main road, which could be uncomfortably noisy when the traffic is heavy. But that depends on how sensitive you are to the noise.

However, the room which was given to us had a major drainage issue in the bathroom. The water being drained from the shower room flowed right out through the other drain outlet outside the shower room. That was quite an awful experience when the bathroom was flooded. We were then moved to another room, which to our pleasant surprise (again), was a suite. Ok, CHR, what happened will be forgiven despite the inconvenience of having to pack and unpack! Seriously, the mark of a good hotel is the way they handle problems or crisis. Giving them credit for it.

Breakfast (included in the package) was individually ordered, not buffet. Because orders had to be taken from individual guests, the waiting time was a rather long especially when there was a crowd. The waiters were polite but I kind of guess they had a bit of difficulty in understanding instructions especially when being overwhelmed with the crowd.

CHR is definitely the place to stay in CH. None of the other hotels in CH come anywhere near to CHR in terms of service, ambience and quality, but of course, it comes at a price. Although our stay had its issues, we will definitely be back again.
