Loved the Alta Bistro. It has a great intimate feel and the few tables are distributed well and even though at first they felt quite close together you didn't feel too intruded on or intrusive of the next door tables.
We arrived a little early so took a cocktail at the small bar while we waited for the table to be ready. The cocktail and overall drinks menu would be a great example of the word extensive. I had seen the two menu concept and was a little worried because I wanted a mix of the two but found that this isn't an issue - you can pay a supplement if you go for the lower menu and want an item from the second menu. Don't go in looking for a menu with 100s of choices, there are two menu with a small number of choices for each course but both menus looked carefully selected and I could have chosen any dish of either menu. In the end both of us had a great meal of just the right proportion and finished with a couple more cocktails off that same extensive list. We did this in preference to what we thought was the only slight downside which was the choice of deserts. Having said that any desert would have to have been good to beat the cocktail.
