I was in town for meetings for a couple of days, and the hotel was providing great service even before I checked in. My company had advised me to obtain a President's club number prior to check-in so I got access free WiFi during me stay. I did this and then contacted the hotel to ensure they had matched my reservation to the number. None of Therese of my colleague did this and at check-in they gave me a room on the 14th floor, Therese of my colleagues were given rooms on floors 2-5. Ey provided their numbers at check-in.
I checked in at around 11pm and asked them if I could extend my stay by one day. They immediately checked and my assigned room was available for an extra day, so they duly did this.
The lobby ceiling is amazing, what a beautiful old hotel. Elevators are plentiful and arrive quickly. The ornate carving of the wood in the elevators is amazing. The elevators are not fast, but the ambience in the elevator is amazing.
My hotel room was a king bed room. I think the last king that slept there was much shorter than 5'7", but the bed was comfortable and had four pillows. This is an old hotel so the rooms are small, similar to the size of hotel rooms in Europe or NYC. The wardrobe is also smallish, but functional.
I ordered room service and it arrived within the time frame provided and was good. I had breakfast sent to my room one morning, and it also arrived in the time frame, but was the wrong food order. The wait person immediately went back down to the kitchen and retrieved the right dish, and had new eggs on e plate. Mistakes happen, and they addressed it immediately.
The bathroom is functional, not large, but room around the basin and a shelf to store my numerous toiletries. Separate shampoo and conditioner, hair dryer, bathrobes, nice soaps. Only disappointment was the line over the shower to hang my bathing suit did not work, not a huge deal as there was a towel rail at the end that I could use.
The room is serviced in the morning with a turndown service at night, and a complimentary bottle of water is provided each evening. There is a coffee maker and filter coffee and tea bags in the room.
A newspaper was delivered to the room on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday but not Wednesday, and did not appear to be any newspapers outside any rooms on the Wednesday morning - bit bizarre, but not a deal breaker.
The pool area was great with a large whirlpool and a sauna and steam room in the ladies change area/locker area.
The Library Bar was great for a drink, intimate and fun setting with nice wines available by the glass.
I had found an earring down the back of a chair - while I was looking for the backing to my earring. I was most impressed by the way the reception staff immediately put it an envelope with the room number and provided it immediately to Security.
It is so easy to walk to restaurants, the dome for e Blue Jays game, the Hockey Hall of Fame - wonderful location!
On the morning of my check-out I asked the bell desk to store my bag for the afternoon, they immediately came to my room, and picked up my bag.
I asked if I could have a late check-out, check-out was 12 noon and they provided one until 2pm. I then decided to spend the late afternoon by the pool, which was fine with them, and then I was able to shower in the change room. They had shampoo, conditioner, hair dryers, deodorant - great experience.
This was an exceptional stay and I would stay again!
