We are just back from a much too short break in Skiathos and wishing we were still in Aghia Paraskevi. Prekas Studios were exactly what we needed: clean, compact, comfortable and airy. The photos on the internet do not really give the full impression of the surroundings, which are reassuringly rural and slightly ramshackle. The walk to or from the beach or bus stop was always a delight past the half-tamed vegetation and myriad cats and if you're feeling fit and carry on up the valley, there are good views from the hills.
Prekas is a small development and has that familiar, relaxed air that makes you know you've left the tourist bustle behind. Nikos and Maria made us feel very welcome and it is clear they enjoy interacting with their guests without being intrusive. I found Nikos very easy to talk to over a Greek coffee; he is a man with a big heart and a true philosopher.
We did try Maria's food, which was fine but tended to eat out, either locally at the excellent Kohili Taverna or in Skiathos town for some variety. We can certainly recommend Maria's delicious feta and tomato omelette for breakfast.
All in all this is a genuine find; a slice of traditional Greece in a changing world. We shall return.
