Our stay was so disappointing that I have felt comelled to write to the hotel. Below is the letter, it's quite lengthy unfortunately.
My partner and I stayed at the Future Inns on the 17, 18 and 19th April. I have to say, we were disappointed for several reasons during the duration of our stay.
Firstly, as we were flying into London and driving to Bristol we were going to be arriving quite late. I emailed the hotel three days before our arrival to confirm our reservation. I did not receive a reply.
I emailed again a day before travelling and once again, never received a reply. In the end, I decided to telephone which is a little inconvenient, especially as I was calling from abroad.
Upon arrival we decided to have a bath and relax. Unfortunately, we were unable to have a bath until my partner cleaned the bath as best she could as the bath was lined with white debris.
The following morning we mentioned this to the head of the cleaning department. The lady advised us that she would clean the room herself and apologised for the state of the bath. That evening the bath was clean but there were still some issues with the cleanliness of the room, and especially the bathroom.
On our last evening we arrived back at the hotel quite late, having spent the day with friends. Once again, the bath had not been cleaned.
For a relatively new hotel, we were disappointed to find mould around the bath. There was also a layer of “scum” underneath the handle. Worse still, there appeared to be a dark (pubic) hair on the bottom side of the handle. I have dark hair but had not been in the bath yet and as my partner is blonde it definitely wasn’t hers. This left me wondering whether the toilet had been cleaned before the bath and that the same cloth had been used. Disgusting.
I have enclosed some photos that were taken with our mobile. One is of the mould in the bath. Another photograph shows the scum from the handle in the bath. Also included is a photograph of the toilet and what can only be described as urine stains on the toilet. After a long day out in Bristol these are surely the last things a paying guest wants to see when they are trying to relax. The fourth photograph is a clump of black hair on the floor in the bathroom. This was on the floor on the third day of our stay. I have shaved hair and my partner is blonde so the hair cannot be ours.
I have to say we were both pleased to leave the hotel. The beds are the softest beds I have ever slept in and so endured three bad nights of sleep. I suppose this might be an issue of personal taste but upon our return I had a look at Trip Advisor to see whether other guests had complained about the beds. I was not surprised to see there were complaints about the bed. I was also not surprised to see numerous complaints regarding the cleanliness of the rooms.
Regrettably, I also left my electric toothbrush behind when we left. As the toothbrush was quite expensive I called the hotel to see whether this had been retained. I was advised that the lady who answered the phone would check with house cleaning and let me know. Needless to say, I never received a response.
During our stay we made our concerns known to the front desk and although we were thanked for our “feedback” the general attitude of apathy was entirely evident.
