This review should be read bearing in mind that my wife and I paid £99.05 for a three night stay in a classic double room booked on line with Hotel Direct.
The hotel is conveniently positioned within walking distance of the town, restaurants and sea front, albeit a steep climb. It is advertised as free parking, it does not say that there are only 25 places so be prepared to have to hunt for limited on road parking in the vicinity. The car park entry is on Durley Gardens,at the rear of the hotel and 100 meters from the hotel main entrance.
The hotel reception is pleasant but certainly not lavish. This is an old hotel in need of some care and attention but nevertheless acceptable.
The room itself was well presented of adequate size. The bathroom is a different matter. It should be described as a bath-cupboard. It contained a small bath with shower, toilet and wash basin, the floor space was about a meter square, my legs touched the toilet whilst using the wash basin, certainly not big enough to to change clothes in.
The staff were pleasant and helpful.
For what I paid the Durley Dean was good value, if I had paid more I would not reach the same conclusion. Beware the price charged by the hotel and some other hotel booking sites is considerably more than I paid.
