While not of the rarified, exceptional class of Miss Clara, Club Quarters St. Paul's is just a completely solid choice that, for the business I do, is well located.
The rooms are brighter than the other London Club Quarters, and spacious enough to lay out my laptop and work, connecting with a reliable WiFi or wired connection. There is plenty of power for your working and charging needs. The lighting in the room is good.
The beds have always been comfortable and the bedding is of good quality. As long as you avoid 701 and it's incessant elevator noise, you're probably in good shape. Well, except the time I arrived on the Saturday night before Easter Sunday, wildly jet-lagged, and woke to the full-on bells of St. Paul's.
The staff is friendly and very helpful. The ability to leave a bag when I take excursions to visit destinations elsewhere in Europe is a huge benefit for me.
Filtered water is available on every floor. The coffee from the super-automat is decent, and there is often a bowl of bananas or oranges in the morning, also complementary.
Access to transportation is very good, with St. Paul's (Central) a quick walk away, as well as the busses that run nearby. Access to London City Airport (LCY) via DLR is straightforward, with Bank station within abut a 15 min walk with bags.
The restaurant next door sucks, but how often have you actually had a good meal at a hotel outside of Europe proper, or maybe in Manhattan?
There's a M&S Simply Food to make up for your breakfast needs, and plenty of great restaurants within 10-20 min walk/tube/bus.
There is a shirt laundry on the corner of Fleet Street (Ludgate Hill's continuation) and New Bridge Street, Dry Cleaning Express, that hasn't screwed anything up on me (knock on wood) and will do same-day shirts for £2.50 each, or less.
