We arrived at the hotel planning to stay for three nights. The staff was very pleasant and helpful, the room (which had apparently been recently renovated) was of typical French dimensions (i.e., small), clean, and the bathroom was nicely equipped and also clean. The only indication of needed work was some peeling paint on the wall above the shower. The towels were also a little threadbare but very clean.
BUT, we had to check out after one night because the bed was the hardest we have ever encountered. (During the night I actually checked to make sure that I was not sleeping on a board covered with a thin pad.) We checked with the staff and they said that all the rooms had been redone and contained the same beds.
For the next two nights we moved to the Hotel Balladins just south of town (see that review).
An additional annoyance was the 8 Euro charge for breakfast. It consisted of dry cereal, rolls or croissants, and coffee. On following days we have found it much wiser to go to the cafe at a Carrefours or other hyper-marche and have a pasty and coffee for 1.5 Euros.
P.S., This hotel also had a feature which we have found in a few other hotels over here. The shower head is on a hand held flexible hose. However, there is either no hook on the wall or it is down near the tub. In either case, this requires that you hold the shower head with one hand while washing with the other of let it spray on your feet while you are washing. I simple hook high on the wall would solve this irritation.
