I've stayed over two weeks at the Madison on business and I'd certainly go back. The staff are charming and efficient, the rooms are well proportioned, the bathrooms work well, the internet connection is fast (but not free). Most importantly, for me, there's an enormous gym attached the hotel. I believe there is also a pool. Another great plus is that if you give the reception a shopping list they will fill the fridge and cupboards of your kitchenette with whatever you desire.
The hotel has just one flaw (mentioned already in other reviews): no room service. There is a decent (if not overwhelming) restaurant which will happily make food for you, but you have to go down and pick it up yourself. This sounds minor, but it's made me realize how my first act on getting back to a hotel room seems to be to take off my shoes and some of my clothes, and having to put it all back on again to get some room service seems an unnecessary inconvenience, and an eccentric decision given how good the rest of the service is.

My purpose for staying here is its location adjacent to the company I meet with in Hamburg. Located in a quiet area near St. Michael’s church the hotel is modern and comfortable. Mostly a business clientele but there are tourists as well. Have stayed here about five times over the course of 10 years, the quality is good and it has remained consistent. The staff is attentive and helpful. The hotel breakfast buffet is very nice, with good service and a polite staff. A health club is located on the property that guests can use in the early AM for free, or it is a good base for a morning run along the river. The river walk is nearby and there lots of good restaurants within a short distance. Not a shopping area, but it is only a 15 to 20 minute walk to the main shopping district.

We had an excellent stay at the Madison Hotel Hamburg. The room was lovely, the reception was stylish and the staff were extremely helpful (all of them, every time).

The hotel's location is perfect. It is a five minute walk from the boardwalk where we caught a city tour. It is a 15 minute (beautiful) walk from the central shopping area and the Binnenalster. It is well connected to everything through public transport.

Nothing bad to say except that the breakfast was a bit too expensive, but we misheard the price when we sat down so it's not their fault.

my father and I stayed in this hotel from 17 Agugust till 21 August, it's amazing hotel very nice stuff and helpful, the room very big and there's minibar for making tea coffee and hot chcolate, I'm glad to stay in that hotel, also there's train staion near of hotel U3 (Bamwal) it's three stops from Rathus the atractive area and five stops from city center (main train staion).
Only I had problem it's they don't have room service, if you want any food or any thing else you have to go down to pick it it up to you room, some times I've to back from city center just to pick my father's food up to his room, because he is old.
finaly if I'm going to Hamburg next time alone I'll go this hotel but if I'm with my dad I can't stay there.
