Starting with the good points. Sorrento is lovely although you have to pay for most beaches. The location of Artis Domus is great - just 10 minutes from the smaller beach and about 20 from the bigger, nicer port beach.
They have a lovely cute jack russel type dog called Milo, who is friendly and welcoming but gets excited by suitcases. He weed on our case when we arrived and tried to do so again when we were checking out. No apologies received.
The rooms are clean but not gleaming.
General points - there is at least one very noisy and persistent cockerel that starts up around 5.00am,but you get used to him.
There is a problemwith ants - but again that seems to be allover the town and not specific to Artis Domus.
One of our group saw a rat run across their balcony.
Now the not so good part
The shower curtain in one apartment was mouldy and the bedspread had old stains on it. The orange and purple colour scheme is oppressive in the small bathrooms. The 3 person and the 2 person apartment have no windows in their bathrooms and small purple tiles are just too dark. Hard water leaves limescale stains.
As a family group with 6 teenagers and young adults and two adults we found the 3 apartments we rented not completely satisfactory. The 4 person apartment is not at all suitable for anything other than parents with 2 young children as the bathroom is ensuite to the bedroom. The door between the bedroom and the lounge with the other two bed settes has a lock but we were not given a key to operate it, so it was constantly blowing open in the night until braced with a heavy bag.
Even more impractical re the 4 person apartment there was only one key given for the room and the gate. The apartment manager (Massimo) and the local Interhome representative both thought we were being excessive to ask for 2 sets of keys for a 4 person apartment! We were eventually given 2 sets for that room but the second set had no mechansim for putting on the lights so us adults found ourselves sitting in the dark if the teens were still out promenading!
The brochure for Inghams has a symbol indicating there is a shared pool. This is not so, there is a small cloudy above ground plunge pool but the owner after originally saying we could use it if we accepted responibilty for ourselves even though it was his PRIVATE pool later changed his mind and siad we could NOT use it.
The garden is also supposed to be shared but with the family using it most days and a large notice in the guest book saying that guests are FORBIDDEN from taking picnics into the garden area - it was not a welcoming place.
The brochure also states that there is free internet access - this is untrue. We asked for the code for the free access and were handed a pamphlet with prices per hour etc.
Inghams brochure also stated that the room cleaning daily was free - on the invoice though there is a 100E or 150 E charge per apartment, to be paid locally in CASH. Also the breakage deposit is 200e per apartment again to be paid locally in CASH.
We definitely felt as if we were just cash generating machines not welcomed guests.
