First of all, there's no sign indicating that this is the place. My Google map told me that it is one or two buildings from Hotel Belle Arti, lack of any external visible sign made it impossible to locate it. It was drizzling when I got off the boat and it made it that much more problematic. Finally, on the suggestion of one of the street peddlers, I walked into Belle Arti and asked the receptionist. She said that they bought Domus Cavanis and it is at the reception desk in Belle Arti where you register. After registration, when I walked into the Domus Cavanis building, the empty receptionist desk, the unoccupied chairs in the lobby, and the dark walkways reminded me of the Hollywood horror flicks. The room is clean, but nothing to write home about. The standup shower is VERY narrow. There is no way you can bend inside the shower - and I weigh under 130 lbs! To get your head wet, your body will be butting up against the shower handle.
The pluses are - the breakfast is in Belle Arti and it is good; it is centrally located between Piazzale Roma and St Marco's Basilica.
One more minus - when my family called the hotel to talk to me, during the last two nights of the stay, they were told that I had already checked out!
