We had an longish stay at B&B Jordaan and found it to be excellent value as a "long stay" home away from home. The B&B is enhanced hugely by its hostess, Charlotte, who is fluent in English and could hardly be more accommodating.
Our room was comfortable, spacious and opened onto a small garden that made the overall ambience very pleasant. It also meant we did not have to drag bags upstairs. The room also had its own well equipped bathroom, planty of cupboard space and tea and coffee making facilties (with endless supplies). A big plus for B&B Jordaan is that it supplies EXCELLENT tea-bags, unlike many establishments in Amsterdam.
Breakfasts are advertised as Dutch continental. That means plenty of breads, jams, meat and cheese plus fruit juice and tea or coffee. However, Charlotte (ever the gracious hostess) also offered us boiled eggs, muesli, other cereals and yoghurt - perhaps because of the length of our stay. You might want to negotiate breakfast with Charlotte if you're staying a while. Our experience suggests she'll be very accommodating. Having said that, the basic breakfast was very good anyway.
The B&B's location is excellent if you need to be in the Jordaan, one of Amsterdam's most picturesque areas. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and one of the best ice creameries in Amsterdam all within 500m or so. It's a 10min walk to Westerkirk and the Anne Frank house and no more than 20 mins to Dam Square. There's a no 10 tram stop within 500m and that's a circular route that takes within easy reach of most of the city's major attractions. Well, actually, the major attraction in Amsterdam is just to walk around and soak up the atmosphere. There are also regular markets very close by.
We just loved our stay at B&B Jordaan. It was convenient to our needs, certainly. However, the warm welcome we received, the hospitality provided and the facilties made our stay comfortable and very enjoyable, Great value and highly recommended.
