This a boutique hotel centrally located on a hilltop. It is close to public transport, shops, and lots of restaurants.

Room: Although the hotel is supposed to be 4 star. The room feels 3star. The room was spacious; furniture new and nice; so why not a 4 star? It's the carpet - it's tacky. If they put in nicer carpet - the room would then feel 4 star. The bathroom was not that great. It needs to be remodeled but was clean. I would give the hotel a 3.5 star. It is not a true 4 star, given the bathroom and carpet.

Amenities: Breakfast was inlcuded and the buffet was quite good. Eggs, meats, yogurt, fruit, juices, etc.

Also, you don't need to book an expensive room to enjoy the view of the fort and city. In between the expensive rooms, there were public balconies with chairs/tables to enjoy the view and have a drink. Do take advantage of this in the evenings. Tourists, 5 bldgs down were, paying to go up a tower to see the view for a few minutes. You get to enjoy it seated all evening!

Service:
Was what you would expect - good. My friend and I had a room for two. I stayed an extra night for a singles price but was able to stay in the same room. This was very helpful; otherwise I would have to pack and unpack in a singles room.

Location: PERFECT. Centrally located.

We stayed here 2 nights in mid June. I would recommend taking the cab from airport, as it is fairly inexpensive and the bus only gets you close. Also, it is quite hot and humid in the middle of June! The hotel is near a mall, the Chiado metro stop, and the famous Number 28 tram that takes you up to Sao Jorge Castle.

We were greeted by an English speaking reception host and were promptly whisked up to the top floor, were we get the most awesome surprise! Our room had a terrace, which overlooked the entire city all the way to the river and all the way up to the castle. It was magnificent, especially at night! It was a large terrace, separated from the others by vine covered trellis, and grass along the back. The wi-fi worked outside and the minibar was well stocked with beer and snacks, and the prices were reasonable.

The decor was oriental in theme, and the room was large and well-appointed with a large comfortable bed, tv and a nice bathroom. The air conditioning worked like a charm. We did not visit the restaurant, but we could see it at the far end of the terrace. The menu that we glimpsed seemed reasonably priced and they had a full bar and desserts.

Being near the metro and tram made it easy to get around including all the way to Belem, over to the large mall and cable car, and up to the castle, I would highly recommend this place. It was clean, had a gorgeous view, was reasonably priced, the room was one of the largest we have stayed at in Europe and it was convenient to everything we wanted to see. The front desk employees were very gracious and helpful as well, especially when we needed a cab and did not speak Portugese! Loved it!

We stayed just one night at the Lisboa Regency Chiado last week and wish we could have stayed longer. We chose the hotel for its proximity to the Metro, as we had an early flight the next morning and wanted to get to the airport quickly, yet also wanted our last night in Portugal to be memorable. The hotel was a perfect pick. We chose a standard room, without the view, and it was huge with a king sized bed, comfy armchair and a huge entry hallway as well as a nice sized bath. We even had a little balcony overlooking the street. It was a little noisy at night, in spite of the double glass doors to the balcony, but it was a Friday night, and the festive folks on the street moved on quickly. We only wish there had been more information about the hotel in the room. We knew there was a bar, but didn't go upstairs until the next morning for breakfast, when we were able to enjoy the fabulous view all by ourselves as we were the first to arrive for breakfast. The breakfast was more than adequate, with lovely fresh fruit, meats and cheeses, scrambled eggs, bacon and beans, juices, yogurt and cereal choices, nice selection of plain and sweet breads and even gave us a final taste of our favorite pastel de nata. The front desk staff and breakfast staff were reserved but not frosty, and were helpful in answering our questions. Next time we'd splurge on the slightly more expensive rooms to have the view of the castle and, we suspect, a bit quieter room. In all, we'd highly recommend the hotel.

We stayed at the Chiado for 3 nights. Our room was very comfortable (although perhaps a little smaller than we felt we'd paid for) and very clean. We left a tip every morning and found our room had been made up when we got back from breakfast. The view from our private terrace directly over the city and castle and the harbour, to the right, was lovely. The staff were very helpful and the 2 young men on reception in the mornings went beyond the call of duty. One said as we were signing in 'if there is anything at all you want to know while you are here then I am the person to ask'. And he certainly was! He was concerned, when I asked his advice about our forward plans, that we weren't travelling to our next destination up the Silver Coast, by the most economical and comfortable method and while I waited made arrangements with our next hotel to be picked up off a bus, which he also found timetables for. Great service! The decor of the hotel was Chinese, which we found unusual but not unpleasant. The large areas outside rooms were beautifully decorated with chairs, settees, sideboards, small tables and fresh flowers. The breakfast area was light and airy and spacious but unfortunately the breakfast was either luke warm, cold or finished and guests had to wait rather a long time for replacements. Service in the breakfast room was also very good and tea and coffee arrived at our table not long after we did.
We visited the guest bar one night and there was a very limited selection of beer, no wine and I got the last glass of red wine. Surroundings once again very comfortable with a lovely view, so not sure what's going on with that bar, but definitely not up to scratch on the night we went there. We didn't go back into it.
We would recommend this hotel. The Chiado district is fabulous with lots of great eating places, shopping and the hotel is less than 3 minutes walk from the Metro. Go to small tapas bar recommended by the receptionist 2 minutes walk away from the hotel. (Don't be put off by the less than salubrious entrance) the food was absolutely delicious, reasonable priced and service attentive without being overpowering. Overall experience was good and we would stay at the Lisboa Chiado Regency again if we returned to Lisbon.

This hotel is a joke.

The interior, which was probably only decorated a few years ago is already shop worn.

I had a horrible experience with internet service. When my computer was put into "sleep mode," somehow, their dial up service did not disconnect, and continued to charge my room on a per minute basis.

The charges they put against my room were extortionate, criminal and indefensible. I wound up paying MORE for internet service than for the entire hotel stay.

As far as I am concerned, they are criminals.

STAY AWAY

  • Liked — the hope it would burn down, with the entire staff inside
  • Disliked — the thought that the above is unlikely
