Amalia hotel is situated very centrally to everything. Syntagma square and the Parliament are just one block away. Main shopping areas and restaurants are just a short walk away. There are also many cafes where one could sit outside and enjoy people watching and the nice weather.

The room is large by European standard. The king size bed, consisting of two 100cm single beds, is a rarity in Europe. The bath room is nice and looks to have been recently renovated. There is a safe in the room and wifi is fast throughout the hotel. The breakfast was very good, with many different selection of coffees, including fresh brew Greek coffee, and various tea bags. There is also fresh squeezed orange juice. Different kind of eggs were available, with sausage, ham, mushroom, cereals, fresh fruits etc. The hotel staffs are also friendly.

I really enjoy staying in Amalia and will definitely stay there again in future. Highly recommended!

I stayed at the Amalia Hotel in Athens on March 6th, two nights. I travelled with two friends of mine and we had a nice room with plenty of space for the three of us. The bathroom was of medium size. The room had also a balcony (unfortunately we found cloudy and rainy days so we didn't enjoyed that much). The staff at the front desk is accommodating and knowledgeable. The breakfast buffet was HUGE, you could stay there just staring at the delicious stuff all day long before you know what your choice will be. Fortunately on our last night I asked Dimitri if we could go up on the rooftop just to enjoy the view.. Night or day the view on the Acropolis is spectacular! What are you waiting for? Get on that elevator!

Room tip: The rooms with the view on the main road may be a little (very little) noisy. Then it's up to you if this can be a problem (if you live in NYC you will have the best sleep of your life, if you live in Venice well it may be a little noisy). The room we had (102) was alright.

Really thankful for the past reviews that helped me to choose this hotel over others nearby... the Amalia Athens makes for a wonderful stay - great location within walking distance to Acropolis (15mins), Ermou Street (10mins) and Syntagma square and metro station (3 mins). You can even pop by just across to see the guards doing their drills in front of the Parliament building. Only downside was the central heating being too warm at night (you can try to manage this by turning the fan low or slightly opening the balcony door. Breakfast was excellent though you may get tired of the lack of variety if you stay more than 4 days. Greece doesn't seem to be big on customer service - or maybe I am comparing to the hotels I've been in Asia (my opinion only) - so don't expect too much. There are a number of pastry shops downstairs just beside the hotel and some nice food outlets at mitropoleos street which is 5min downslope. Ask for a room facing the front if you want a view - perfect spot for catching the sunrise!!

I am so happy that I came across the Amalia hotel in trip advisor!! Our stay was perfect! Excellent, helpful staff, great breakfast, spacious room with spectacular view of Mt. Lycabettus, great location - right on Syntagma square, and walking distance to everything we wanted to see. Overall - very good value!!! One small problem: The central heating was too warm in the room.

A one night stop in Athens before heading off to the Peloponnese. Good service, comfortable room and well situated in the middle of Athens. Great view of the Acropolis from our window. Very good value for money.
