Travelled with family (wife and 4 year old boy) returned home this morning 28th May after a 2 week holiday. Stayed in the fishng village side of the resort. (newer and more beautiful) than the other accomodation, but once you see the fishing vlllage side you would want to stay there, its the deluxe and the kids dens. The other area agean was very nice clean etc its down to your personal budget on what you can afford.
Try to request the 2nd floor if you want sun on your balcony otherwise ground floor if you have a pram, or very young children or don't like stairs. Rooms had cooker, fridge 2 TV's DVD player, aircon and safety deposit box which was one of only three minor areas for improvement I would suggest for the resort. They charge 39 euro's for 2 weeks and no refund. (You would think after spending over £2K the safe deposit box to be free, it was at the other HV's)
The food was the best out of all the HV's every day something new and we felt no need to go outside for a change even after 2 weeks it didn't become repetative. I never heard of anybody becoming ill or complaining about the food. the management of the restaurant areas does a superb job and his staff are briiliant, Don't miss Greek night on Saturday night at the restaurant. This was the first time our 4 year old ate all his meals and wanted more, usually he hardly eats when on holiday.
The swimming pools are the best I have been to. especially if you have very young children. the splash pool is brilliant. very shallow and the deepest it gets is below your knee. The other pool is split into 2 halfs one for adults only and the other which I can only describe as a concrete beach but very nicely done with the lighthouse as the centre piece. This brings me to my 2nd area of improvement. This area is very popular for the sunbeds (although they doesn't seem to be the mad 5 am get up to ensure a good seat. except for the front row. The problem is people drag the beds down from other areas and squeeze as many in as possible making it imposible to pass them to get to the walk in area of the pool without climbing up steps etc. it could be easily solved by ensuring a pathway is kept clear, I saw a few people trip here. My other point for improvement is not everybody attends HV's with kids, so why do they need to sit on the front row where the water is very shallow ideal for babies and toddlers when they can sit in beautiful areas around the adult areas ? My final area for improvement and this isn't unique to Aliathon is smoking. (yes I am an ex smoker the worse kind) but we sat next to a large group who were there for a wedding (all adults in the shallow area of the pool) any everyone of them appeared to smoke) All day I had cigarette smoke bellowing out poluting all the children and everybody around them. Even at the kids splash pool areas some parents were puffing away all day. (by all means let them smoke but not in the pool areas) I think First choice need to address this issue on all HV'.
As with all HV's the I5Live crew were brilliant, keeping the children entertained all day. After I5 Live and the bingo it lacked good quality adult entertainment. Only one external act per week, so not many people bothered hanging around after about 10pm. I have stayed at other HV's where the adult entertainment was a lot better. Even though I have raised a few areas for improvements i would say this HV is the best we have stayed at will return again soon.
Stay in the fishing village side if you can afford it. 1st floor for sun on the balcony, although it...
