If you get the Vienna lines bus from the airport to Schwedenplatz, it is only a short walk to the hotel. It is a bit uphill, however, so you might have to take a slightly longer route than the most direct one, which involves a flight of steps. Although the address is given as Fleischmarkt, the entrance is down a small alleyway between two restaurants, almost opposite the Greek Church.
The decor is relaxing and traditional, and Reception was very welcoming, and efficient. There is a lockable safe in the room, but you need to get the key at Reception, so ask for it when you check in to save having to come back once you've started unpacking. The room was a good size, and the bathroom was enormous. The bed was very comfy, and the pillow was a proper supportive one, rather than the huge cushion affair that collapses to nothing. The furniture was also in good order. A very welcome feature was the tea and coffee tray with kettle! Another good idea was the bedside clock/radio with CD player. My room was on the inside of the building, so overlooked the open air terrace, which meant it was very quiet as the weather was somewhat chilly during my stay. The room was lovely and warm thanks to the radiators, though! The cleaning was also very thorough.
The breakfast room is elegant, with plenty of tables, and extremely friendly and attentive staff. In fact, all the staff I met were great - friendly and efficient. The breakfast is the usual spread that is found in Germanic hotels, so plenty to set you up for the day. There is an option to add ham to the scrambled eggs, but this comes at an extra cost. However, in the hot tray there is already scrambled egg, thin bacon and sausages.
There are quite a few decent eating places in the vicinity, particularly once you look at a map to work out the maze of back streets.
I had a lovely stay here, and would not hesitate to stay here again, or recommend it to any of my friends. The location is pretty good for the Aldstadt, and from Schwedenplatz you can access the whole of the underground system. It's not cheap to stay in Vienna, but I thought I had very good value for what I paid.
