This is your typical UK Travelodge once you find it and get inside. However, it is anything but typical being a conversion of part of a famous old mill in the centre of Halifax. What a pleasant surprise!

We had one night in a family room. Arrived about 8.30pm to a huge car park with plenty of spaces. Very helpful receptionist checked us in and we bought some of the breakfast boxes. Our room was a little chilly when we got in but the heater soon sorted that out. The room was large and very clean. The main bed and childrens beds were very comfy with plenty of pillows. No problems with the bathroom, shower had plenth of pressure and was plenty hot enough, children also enjoyed their bath. Breakfast boxes were enjoyed by all. For £29 for the room certainly could not complain!

This is a fairly new Travelodge, and is part of the newly converted Dean Clough Mills. These were built in the early Victorian period, and were one of the largest carpet factories in Europe. The Lodge is definitely a cut above average ! Large and very clean. There is some noise from the nearby main road, particularly in the morning. PARKING TIPS - There is a large car park, which does not belong to the Lodge, so if you are arriving in the afternoon, don't forget to get a ticket. The meters are not at all obvious, and are on the perimiter rather than the centre of the car park. The stated times are 7.00 a.m.(!!) till 6.00 p.m., however the ticket wardens (currently) only work 9 - 5. So check this is still the case when you book in. The whole (huge) mill buildings are still being developed. The art gallery is well worth a glance - it imaginatively uses office corridor space for displays as well as galleries, and you are free to wander down these also. For those who like tapas, there is Ricci's just along from the Travelodge. This is, quite simply, the best UK tapas bar I have dined in ! A great and friendly atmosphere, with really interesting, unique dishes. Booking is best !! One step further on is Totally Local - great for breakfast, and open from 7.00 a.m. Check though - they may be open weekdays only. Whilst in Halifax, get to see the Piece Hall, a unique building (at time of writing closed and being restored).

I've stayed in many travelodges over the years and take them for what they are a cheap convenient place to rest your head and you know exactly what to expect. Occasionally you find a travelodge that falls below expectations and sometimes one that far exceeds it. Well this travelodge most definitely comes into the exceeding expectations category. We picked the hotel as we had booked a meal at the Design House Restaurant which is in the same Dean Clough Mill development as the the Travelodge and on walking though saw a number of other restaurants, pubs, clubs etc in the same complex as well as other businesses that are based there. Location therefore has to be a big plus for this hotel. The next plus is the building itself, a stunning redevelopment with the rooms retaining the original stone wall as a feature. The room was clean, well decorated and felt a lot more upmarket than you would normally expect from a travelodge with a really comfortable bed. One travelodge I would have no hesitation revisiting

We stayed here from Friday 7th - Monday 10th November 2014.The room was clean and tidy and warm.I booked this earlier in the year and got a good deal on the price.Being quite close to the bypass we found it rather noisy early morning as where we live it is so quiet, but if your used to traffic noise in the mornings then it' wouldn't be a problem. My daughter -in-law stayed here too on a different floor with her two sons on a different floor again, her door handle came off and she was trapped inside so had to phone her son to let her out!!.Also the bathroom door of my grandsons room came off and they had to be moved to another room, with no problem at all from the staff. The parking is free at weekends but paid parking through the week.We flew into Leeds/Bradford Airport and it's only about 40mins away so ideal distance to travel to see family.
